Default Problems with Ultimate Racing hi-flow cats

This is the 3rd time this has happened on my car with a set of ultimate racing cats. I am trying to figure out if it is the cats fault or maybe has something to do with my top speed headers not having the best fitment.

It happened on my first set of cats so I sent them to ultimate and they rewelded it then they broke again. So I asked if they would ship me a new set which they did at no extra cost to me.

And now the new set broke.

Has anyone else had any problems with these cats?

Now I'm considering going with a set of resonated test pipes or a different brand of hi-flows. Can someone make some recomendations?

Thanks

Get a engine tourqe dampner it will stop your exhaust from trying to rip itself apart. I put one on my car and the exhaust hardly moves now.

there is no need to even connect those IMO. reweld the cat back up and just install them without the bracing.

I thought about that but I was told that not attaching the flange would not be a good idea because the headers and y-pipe have to carry all the weight.

But maybe I will give this a try. What type of hi-flows do you have?

+1 generally when a bracket mounts to the car itself it will have some kind of buffer.

I use UTR resonated Test pipes. They have a much better mounting bracket than that. I am also running solid motor mounts though.

I think they should have moved the hanger to something like this:

I'm not sure if this would necessarily help but I think too much heat is getting generated at spot, but the same thing might happen if the
flange is moved too?

I'm considering getting some megan racing resonated test pipes, they don't have a hanger.

you could always just have an exhaust shop fab up a good solid mount for them. It wouldn't cost that much and you could make it much bigger and stronger that way.

I have the chinese engine mount its the same as the stillen. I think it was 60$ and i used the stillen instructions. It stopped almost all of the engine movement. If you want to see why your exhaust breaks take off those brackets, start the car when its cold and look underneath it.

I would stop using that mount, and instead use a muffler hanger The strap around type, to support that area.

I believe the bracket bolts to the underside of the transmission, so it sholud move in unison with the cats.
I think the cat bracket itself is the weak link or the weld onto the cat itself really weakened the wall of the cat.

I will try, I would use something that has a short black strap with 3 holes in it...that bolts to the braket on the car... And has a "hoop" area that goes around the pipe, giving support without putting the stress on one small spot.

ok, these are a bit more complex than you need, but should work, the first requires a drill hole in frame, the second one doesn't

I just got new ultimate racing high flow cats and the bracket they have is actually different than pictured. It is more of a combination of both this white section and the section that is broken in this picture
