I ran the cold air ingen for a few weeks but was not to impressed with the filter look in my bumper and there wasnt a noticible sound difference like you would expect from a intake. So i removed the rubber tubbing and ran a short ram, you can feel a tiny bit increase in acceleration (due to the shorter run of air) off the line and definately notice the intake sound now. But either way expect the same power gains

That's it! Unless you want to purchase the heat shield for it too.

does everyone that have short rams it have the heat shield? is it really necesarry? and also what is the hydroshield? i just purchase a filter off someone from this site and it cam with the hydroshiled. im guessing it keeps the filter from getting wet during rainy days obviously but is that it. where can i get a heat shield and approx how much. can i use any brand heat shield or does it have to be an injen heat shield if they even make one?. thnx

Just google " injen heat shield", they run around $55. You don't need one, but I plan on getting one. The Hyrdoshield is good for the long Injen CAI, but if you are going with the short ram, you won't need it.

Although my filter elemnent itself does tend to heat up at the track after numerous runs....I would assume a heat shield would help this but Iv'e yet to try one....

True...IMO then you do not need the heatshield...and you really dont need the hydra shield...if you already have it, you can use it it wont hurt...but you can sell it too lol
