i dropped my Z off at Z Car Garage today @ 7am to install my Nismo headers. they said it would take a day and a half, but i got my Z back at 2pm the same day i dropped it off. talk about quick. those guys @ Z Car are great.
My Z is not as loud, adding the headers actually made my Z quieter than just having test pipes.
VIDEO COMING SOON!!!

This thread has increased my confidence in the NISMO cat-back I'm ordering. I really am doing it just for a cosmetic thing (and a NISMO thing) just to give my car more personality, but I was afraid it would be TOO loud.
I really don't want it to sound much different than stock... the stock sound is PERFECT to me.... low key.
I'm thinking, after reading this and hearing the clips, that the NISMO may just work for me without adding additional dampening. Heck, I like what I read about the headers too. Maybe those may be next if they really seem to smooth out the exhaust.
Do you think they may even make the NISMO cat-back more tolerable? Maybe if I added another resonator and headers to the cat-back, I could get the smoother flow but with less rasp and db's?

TP's will make the same "sound", but much louder. think about it this way, you have a conversational voice, then you have yelling voice, it's your same voice yet louder. having TP's is like making your Nismo cat-back "yell."
if you check out my other vids, you will hear the nismo without TP's. i only made one vid with the TP's.

question for you, I want to get test pipes for mine too. I have seen the ones on EBAY but I heard they can crack (I see yours cracked) so is buying a cheaper brand really that bad? I couldnt imagine how those things crack so easily. Let me know your oppinion on that!

I've had my nismo for about 2 years now. Yesterday, I installed some Kinetix High Flow Cats.
Holy Crap, is all I can say. I'm very happy I went with this combination. It give the Nismo some volume. A slightly higher pitch, I emphasize on slight, and adds to everything people like about the Nismo sound.
*Warning: If you are the type who doesn't want a loud exhaust, don't get High-Flow Cats. It makes the Nismo about 30% louder.*
I have virtually, no rasp. I do recall hearing a metallic-esque sound around 2200-3200 RPMs but only on full throttle, also this was early in my drive, after warm-up I didn't notice it. It also wasn't anything close to the rasp that those with test pies have. It's more aggressive in a volume sense and the pitch changes a little. It sounds awesome, at least to me. My main concern was droning. I drive quite a bit on the highway and didn't want droning. At around 78 mph, you begin to hear a slight drone. It's not too uncomfortable, you just notice it, It's bearable. Overall, I'm happy I went with this set-up.
For those with Nismo's dreading to make a change and not sure what to pick wether it's Resonated Pipes, Test Pipes, or Hi-Flow Cats, my opinion is go with the cats. It sounds aggresive, at the same time it doesn't take away from the car. With this combo, you will get that signature Z sound you crave and won't have a Ricey sound to your exhaust.
Hope I helped.
