Default In search of a quieter exhaust, I need your help!

Well right now I have the Topspeed exhaust with AAM's y pipe and kinetix test pipes....WOW haha its really really loud. Ive been running this setup since last august and am finally getting sick of the loud noise. Now I put the silencers in but they made the exhaust tone sound weird and kinda ricey. so my question to all of you is what exhaust out there can I get the will still perform well but also be quieter? I do not want to get rid of the test pipes or the y pipe so im looking for a y pipe back exhaust. The ones Im currently looking at are Stillens, Tanabes touring and Im kinda of intersted to see if Titek would off their exhaust as a y pipe back. Any one have any suggestions? Ive also thought of putting the stock exhaust back on but dont know if that will hurt performance or not. Anyone know?
Thanks

Any other exhaust ever made will be quieter. Out of your two choices, I like the stillen TD better.

Im gona sell the topspeed if I can find a good choice of y back exhaust. Now with the test pipes still on will the fujistabo or tanabe still be quieter than the top speed and not have a ricey tone to them? I want something that sounds good.

i'm not sure any other exhaust will give you that much of a quieter sound since you got the y-pipe and the test pipes, you might get just a tad bit quieter sound but after a while it might not sound any different so you might be wasting money buying a whole new exhaust =/ anyways good luck!

The testpipes, compared to HFC's, are gonna kill your sound and quality of it...no matter what system you buy. The testpipes will make things much louder and rasp as well...

See thats what I was thinking as well. Maybe ill just have to suck it up haha and wait until I get the beater so the Z isnt my daily. I plan to go vortech this late summer/early fall so i guess I might as well just not waste the $. And high flow cats dont yeild great power compared to the test pipes so i guess ill stick with it for now.

The power difference between HFC and testpipes is this:

Testpipes will yield you about 2-3 more HP and TQ than HFC's...compare that to the sound and smell of the gases????

easy choice to make...unless it's a track only car...

See the Sport-Z magazine Exhaust Shoot-Out. Noise levels measured in dbs. Very informative.

I figured out a sweet solution for this problem...I have the MR Res TPs with MR Y-pipe and JIC full Ti exhaust (no res)= mega loud. So I had a local shop weld in a Magnaflow 14" muffler with dual 2.5" in and single 2.5" out into the Y-pipe. Made a HUGE difference in the tone...I no longer sound like a improperly tuned stock car at 5500k. I can post pics if ya want...

Never said crappy - the sound changes - typically too loud, drone and rasp.

Rasp is a product of an inefficient/not tuned exhaust - not typically a benefit or desire.

How about Ingen , and the tanabe exhausts. I know some fo the Tanabe ones are rated for 95DB and the others are rated at 93DB. I'm in the same boat as the OP , but i dont have anything done yet.
Right now i'm really looking at the Ingen and Tanabe 95DB systems cause they say they have a removable baffle, something that i wouldnt mind for track events.

tanabe medalion touring... under 93dB and sounds really nice. They have sound clips on tanabe's website.
