Default 07 Z with Nismo seems louder

Not sure if its just me so if anyone else has a Nismo on their 07 maybe you can chime in.

Seems like the car is a bit louder then the 06 used to be. Checked all the gaskets and bolts. Its nice and tight now air leaks. At morning start up it just roars. It does sound amazing but just wondering if other 07's are louder. Ill try to get a sound clip later.

post sound clip!! btw, the new motor and twin intake/throttle bodies prob makes it sound louder. Im debating over this exhaust or greddy evott, want good sound with good power gains. You should dyno your car.

Just gona have a local shop do it. SRT in beltsville. Good friend of mine is a mechanic there. Couldnt do too much on price but 3 pulls wiht a/f for 60bux. Last time they ran my car 5 times because they thought 4th gear pulls would be more efficient since 5th gear hit like 130+mph

The 07s pretty much have headers on them already. So that is what the difference is.

Right now I really cant tell the difference. My car only has 500 miles on it now. With the stock exhaust the car pulled hard. The factory y-pipe looks pretty nice in design. I have not put in my y-pipe yet. Going to do that tonite on the lift after lunch. I do not have the Nismo Y pipe but will be putting on the AAM y-pipe. I dont have a baseline dyno but hopefully we can see a slight difference compared to some of the stock dynos

the issue with the nismo exhaust in itself that it doesnt make the most power efficiently. I would get a nismo exhaust for the sound really and warranty savings but...for raw power. There are better choiced. But when u look at it for the low hp anyways the sound is really more important lol.

^^^ Well, he doesn't even have the y pipe on yet. lol Thats where most of the restriction is. It basically only sounds good right now. lol I noticed a difference in the mid range when I put my nismo exhaust on my '04. I hope the Nismo will produce more than it did with previous model Z's (6rwhp) on the HR motors. Although, with the y pipe redesign on the '07's the power increase may be the same as before . Looking for before and after dynos before I buy though. He doesnt have a before dyno so it's really not a good comparison. I would like to see at least 10rwhp myself. I know the greddy evo tt can produce that on an hr motor. I'm looking for 20rwhp with a test pipe exhaust combo. Thats only a few more ponies than Sharif measured on an 07 with turbo xs test pipes and greddy evo tt. It can be done. 20rwhp more will put me in the 285rwhp ish range and that will hold me over until more breathing mods, lighter flywheel, or an intake that can make at least 4-5rwhp is released.

It would be interesting to put an '07 Y pipe on a Revup to see if it makes more ponies. It might make a couple. lol Wanna try it RbLover? lol

20hp (at the wheels) on a exhaust/tp combo would be serious. Almost so seriouis i dont believe it

That '07 Y pipe looks aftermarket compared to the cheapo one from pervious years. Are you still rolling with the nismo on the new '07 Prascilla? That evo TT might eat up some HP, but the duel throttle bodies and upgraded headers may make the difference.

^^^Well a 18rwhp gain was obtained with test pipes and greddy evo tt exhaust (not even made for NA but a FI oriented exhaust!) so 2 more with an exhaust made for NA doesn't sound too far off.

No, I sold my NIsmo before I even sold my wheels to you and have the stock exhaust now on the 07 (its so quiet lol)...

*disclaimer* i realize that i'm comparing 2 differnt cars on 2 different dynojet in 2 different state in most like 2 very different weather conditions, the following is purely an educated guess speculation
*end disclaimer*

i'm thinking maybe the hr likes bigger exhausts

https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/257996-my-new-07-a-5.html

on post 90 there is a pic of his dyno, its an 07 with the hks knock off (the second sheet is of his prev 06 z) he got 270/239 when i got 265/231 stock, thats 5/8 increase

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....251799&page=11
(post 212 and 217)

this guy gained 20 whp on an 06 with the hks knock off

then sharif pick up 10 whp on a large diameter "fi"exhaust and 8 more with test pipes

the hr could be a whole different animal than the de as far as what mods make more power

theres one problem with this. The greddy and nismo differ from piping size and overall flow if im not mistaken . This isnt a good way to say x will give me y. Its way to much in its infant stage to say anything will give you more hp then any other previous motor right now since as it was said its still a different animal. The gains from 06s and previous Zs with test pipes are not far off of anything we seen as far as gain on the HR. Granted the motor def has the better platform to modify but we dont know truley if it can be enchanced even moreso then nissan has done really. I mean what hasnt been done to this motor not to make power lol. The plenum is damn near perfect the material is heat resistant the engine is highley tuned. Also different cars different climates different dynos. Right now were all going by one HR dyno and 2 HR mods out of the hundreds of tests done on previous models. So right now its just way to early in the game to see those values . I right now the gains from adding those to mods are not out of the ball park numbers just really good numbers for the diameter exhaust that he was running. From the thread sharif wsa surprised that it made that much since the greddy is really fabricated for FI apps with the piping being larger then what would normally be used on a NA app. But it was def a shocker. So right now we dont know if the smaller or less aggressive nismo would really do anything compared to the Greddy at least not yet until we get some numbers like sharif did. I agreee that were talking new values here from a new engine. And 285ish would be nice but remember how tuned these engines are from factory. I think more then basic breathing mods are gonna get the HR to the 290rwhp range. Its just really to early in the game to tell but it would be amazing just to test and tune to reach that goal. After all its the most hp out of the box.

pricilla i got oil issues to worry about right now.....half my dipstick right now checked to day.....oh the revup woes...But dont worry i will have something done sooner or later. Do or die man. lmao

^^^^ with what springs?? i'm happy with my Tein S-techs, the drop is noticeable (takes a couple days to fully settle) without being too low.
they'll need a spring compressor, preferably a wall mounted one, the springs are a btich to put on in the front.
