Default Can it be? Happy with NA mods

This is a (nearly) unbiased review of what various parts have done for my 03` 350Z. I place it here because the JIC ti single is the latest, and perhaps best mod I`ve done.

Mods: (in chrono. order)

-Track rims
-+2 timing w/ Consult
-PC680 battery
-UR flywheel
-spare/jack weight reduction
-5/16`` spacer
- pop charger
-JIC full Ti.
*No tune, but several battery disconnects/jumps

Even after the spacer and popcharger I noticed only a minimal change in the character of the car`s powerband. I won`t attempt to assume a human dyno readout at this point. After some miles with the exhaust, however, the car has a distinctly stronger pull to redline. I don`t feel any notable loss in torque either. I`ve also done very well against some newer - 06` Z`s in short, unscientific straightline tests (up to hwy speeds - define that as you will )

The car is a pleasure to drive, tire-eating notwithstanding!

Default JIC single is 80 mm - 3.1``

Yes, 3`` and a work of art. Huge, great quality. A bit boomy from 2100-2700, but o rasp with the resonator. Great sound under full throttle too. B-pipe/after y-pipe back - about 6` to the tip.

Sounds to me like you actually let your car finally breath since putting in intake and plenum mods.

This stuff does work really well as a team...

Yes he means +2 degrees of timing. I noticed on the dyno that doing this makes power ... I did it using Cipher tool from AAM.

Hi,

is it recomended to remove the spare tire? I thought of this too for weight reduction...

but I have not removed it yet.... as I figured it was factored in for crash tests etc... and would be dangerous not to have it incase of a heavy rear impact?

cause even if I got a flat tire.. I would not use it anyways.... with my lip kit + 19's + lowering, would probably be on the floor LOL.

some advise on this would be great... if so, ill remove it...!

It only weighs 40 lbs.

If you want to drop serious weight, the best place to start is the wheels.

You say you have 19's. You will not notice any difference if you take the spare out.

really its only 40 pounds.. but I guess thats something... I feel a huge difference from when Im alone in the car, compared to when I have a passenger..

yes for sure the 19's add weight...

but would it be dangerous to remove it?

Default safety of spare removal

I`m not an engineer but...

a 40lb hunk of steel and rubber will likely provide a minute amount of extra protection under the best of circumstances. The odds are that you`ll take one on the sides or nose in an accident anways, so the rear impact area will not be a factor. If the car is flipped and the roof comes into play don`t be in your friend`s 350z vert.
