So i had $80 to blow and i decded to buy a throttlebody spacer. I realize it may be "snake oil" but i figured it couldn't hurt anything. And if nothing else it would add a little bling under the hood.
I ran across this one from a link on g35driver. So i contacted Vic, the gentleman who makes these, and he promptly shot me back an email with info about it. It comes in silver, annodized red, and annodized black. Also coming soon are spacers with a built in heat sink. Then the void area will be pressed w/ phenolic to help block and reduce heat. Apparently phenolic has this heat reduction property. (See pics) Not sure what phenolic is, but it must work! lol
I recieved mine today, shipping was really fast. And i must say it is very nice quality. It matches up perfect with the opening in the throttlebody, in such a way that the rifling doesn't protrude into the airflow more then what is needed to do it's job. The grooves are nice and deep, and appear purposful. Also includes longer bolts, and O-rings fitted into the groves on either side, so you don't need to reuse your stock gasket.
Honestly, i picked a bad time to buy this. I'm still getting used to my new V+ Plenum, and pop-charger, so it's hard to notice the little gains untill i get used to how she pulls with the other new parts on. Later down the road i'll pull it off and see if i notice a loss. And i'm not gonna dyno for an $80 part. But i would imagine it would have to do something 'cause of the rifling, probably mainly at the higher RPMs. I definatly am not feeling any losses.
Sorry for the crude writeup, not very good at these. If you would like more info you can email Vic @ aceprecisionmv@hotmail.com.

I have heard from an IMPARTIAL dyno tester (got the part for free to test it) that this can make 4-5hp.
I have not seen the dyno. I would take that number with a grain of salt if I were you, since I have seen 5hp difference easily due to a few degrees difference in intake temp conditions

wouldnt the venturi effect just dissipate once the air got into the plenum anyways? I see no way this could make power on our set-up.
a 2-4whp difference on the dyno could just be something as little as temp change.

just my stupid thought but the venturi effect speeds up airflow, no?
so in essence it could possibly draw more air into the plenum, creating more pressure on that side of the throttle body which would push more air into the cylinder when the valves open.
now, not to the effect of a supercharger or anything even remotely close, but a little..
