Default Test pipe size question

if a test pipe is advertised to be 2.5", should'nt the diameter of the piping itself be 2.5"??? and not 2.25"???

someone correct me if i am wrong here....

What size do you think this is??

OD
you can clearly see where my 2.5" stillen exhaust was mounted to this..

Test pipes are usually advertised with inner diameter (ID). Interesting that ID is measured in inches and not mm.

ok, so looking at those pics... you would say its a 2.25" test pipe right? you can see where on the lower pic the ruler is set to measure the flange diameter.. not the pipe itself...

did you check out the outer diameter?

the reason i am asking this is because i bought a set of test pipes that were advertised as 2.5", they don't look like 2.5" to me..

maybe some people will argue over whether or not a big difference is made when going with either of the 2 sizes on a N/A car.. but i figured i would get what i paid for. Currently, my exhaust is 2.5".. i know the stock manifolds are 2.25", but sometime in the near future i plan on going aftermarket.. it would be nice to know that everything was 2.5" straight through..

I think aftermarket headers are 2.25 as well. They just flow a bit better than stock, matter of fact... remind me this weekend to show you the stock manifolds

I'm gonna go ahead and shoot myself in the foot and try the TurboXS test pipes and see what happens. I don't expect much or anything at all, just the piece of mind. Soleil really did get good gains off of his TurboXS test pipes though.

No argument from me. Looks like 2 1/4 pipe.

I think he's contacted Strup and the vendor about it. Not sure what's the status though.
