I totally agree with Justin, I couldn't have said it better myself, I believe that the engineering and manufacturing of headers or exhaust manifolds is an art!!!

You can change the primary tubing diameter and length, you can step the piping, change the collector size and shape, etc.... What do you here will also change depending on if you have cats, test pipes, single or dual exhaust, also what cams you run, etc... Header tuning is really an art.

The biggest problem in making a really nice set of headers for the g35/350z is the available space, that's why you don't see too many different designs.

While this is somewhat true, we all know that the the Z's engine was pretty-well tuned from the factory. I think that pretty-much the only way for headers to make any kind of power has to do with the angles of the tubing to make it as linear as possible but even still, for the money, it is a waste.

If you are going to spend over $1,000 for some headers, you might as well save a little longer and go FI.

I think an overwhelming majority feel the same way I do and I have first-hand experience in addition to the sentiments of the top tuning house on the West Coast and probably the whole U.S.

Headers, overall, are not worth their retail prices in most cases.

I don’t know if there is a difference in noise between headers. They are all noisy.

from my experience, they all sound the same if the cats are still in.

Overall, what I am saying is if you want extra hp, just save the pain and money from buying and instaling headers and simply delete the cats.

You will get a noticeable power increase along with the increased sound. THAT is the mod you need to look at, not headers.

+1

Bang for the buck the best deal are test pipes.

What I said was completely true. Header tuning is a lot more involved than just matching the exhaust port size. It's also more involved than just straightening out some bends. I'm not trying to say it is or isn't worth it because that's someone's opinion and not the fact of them actually making power or not. Given the price, it may be a waste for you, but that doesn't mean it is a waste for everyone. Some people can't go the FI route or choose not to due to other factors. Sure other mods may make more power, but to say that headers will not, or can not make power is false.

I'm not trying to argue and say you're wrong for not getting headers and that they are worth it for you (with a name like GT37R I'd hope you're not relying on headers for power ). I'm trying to say that in some cases they are beneficial and can make considerable power. You may not want aftermarket headers or need them to make more power on your car, but stating that as fact for all Z's may mislead people on this forum.

not familiar with installing headers but did you install them from under the car as you whould with test pipes?

i've read of people having to move the engine to install the crawford headers.
