I have a pair of after-market headers that I am debating weather to install or not. I talked to my sister's fiancee(who used to be a mechanic) and asked him why is it that after-market headers is really worth it to install(according to threads on my350Z).
I asked him, wouldn't it be in Nissan's best interest to make a header that did the best job in the first place? He told me that Nissan probably had a header that didn't have 3 long tubes(like the after-market headers) because it is easier/cheaper to cast the stock headers in a factory mold then it is to bend and wield like the after-market headers. Also, the Stock headers could have been designed to meet somewhere in the middle of giving power as well as getting higher MPG instead of the after-market headers being designed for a very aggressive performance.
Now, he's never seen a Nissan 350Z stock header, so this could be guessing/speculation for all I know. So I'd like to see what a stock 350Z header looks like to see for myself how different it is compared to the after-market headers.

^^ If those are the Nissan stock headers, then thank you.
I did do a search on Google before coming on here. I searched for "350Z stock headers" in the images section and didn't see any pictures like that O.o
And I don't think it was a dumb question. I'm sure others were wondering these themselves.

The OEM exhaust manifold is the brown thing on the ground.
