Default Attn. HYDRAZINE...

Hey Tony. Need your help, man.

I specifically remember you stating that if the HR engine was carried over for 08 that you had some cool stuff you were working on to make power, but could not justify the R&D for 1 model year.

The 08 has been confirmed unchanged!

I am waiting to give you more of my money for your cool HR mods...

The MREV2 and spacer for the 06 revup is the single best mod one can do. A must-have for every rev-up owner!!!

Traded my 06 for an 07 and put the MREV2 and spacer on my wife's car.

My 07 is quicker in the lower RPMs and the higher RPMs that my wife's 06 with with the MREV2 and spacer, but she pulls on me for a few moments in the mid-range, (4.5k to 6k) no doubt

The exhaust is actually very near production.
And the manifold for the HR is on hold for now... I need to see what they are dong with this VHR 3.7 liter engine.

Will it go into the Z?...
Turbo or non-turbo?...
3.8L?...
4.0L?...
Will the manifolds be interchangable with the HR?...

If I design a new manifold for the Z it WILL be variable geometry. Variable geometry is the only way to make really substantial NA gains. And as such, the tooling to make it will be real damn expensive.

So I must first see and feel comfortable with where Nissan is going with their engine designs before pulling the trigger on such a big investment.

Variable geometry in an intake manifold... that sounds cool.

Not to steal any of your secrets, but how would something like that work? Something activated by engine vacuum?

I understand if you don't want to say any more.

If this is so, as far as the gains are concerned, you think you might make something using Variable geometry for the DE engines?

No. Already tried. It's too difficult.
The new plastic plenum style is easier to work with in the design phase.

Variable Geometry?!?!

Damn it dude, I was gonna buy a suspension, but that is some high-quality ****. I'll have to save up and see what you have in store for the HR.

your 07 has shorter gears than your 06... unless Z is different from G... that really adds zip. I was sold as soon as I drove an 07 G loaner... Tony has lots of good things up his sleeve though

Regardless of market volume and based on what they make now, a switch over to Honda would not be transendance, it would be more like decendance.

03-07 Z's all have the same FD. The only difference is rev limiter on the revups is a bit higher, and the HR's is 7500 therefore we can take it a bit further than the DE guys.

then it is different than the 07 G ... I mentioned that if it is the same the FD adds the zip

I wonder why they didn't put the 3.692 in the Z?

I'm currently working with several So Cal manufacturers evaluating their quality, production capability, logistics and costs.

Its actually big homework to optimize.

Yeah... I understand about the manifold being quite the engineering and production feat.

So will the exhaust work well with the HR too? I am not sure if the HR responds differently to exhausts than a DE would.

Lemme know if you need a test mule for the exhaust on an HR. I am totally stock at this point and just turned 4k miles. My first mod was going to be stillen true dual, but if you're making something, I'd like to try it.

Can you tell us the general exhaust config you are working on? Single to dual tips? True dual? h-pipe? x-pipe? I'd love to have an option of different styles of tips - removable. Some people like the stock look, some like single-wall, some like burnt Ti look. Interchangeble tips would be cool, (and might affect price, but that's OK).

None of the above?

I can prolly work through z-car Garage in san jose to do the install and do a before and after Dyno.

BTW... My $$$'s on a 3.5HR TT for the new Z. Why else would the internals on teh 3.5 HR be so beefed up?
