Default INTAKE: could you get away with this, why or why not?? CHEAP SUBSTITUTE???

*THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT NOR AM I IN ANY WAY TELLING ANYONE TO GO AND BUY THESE SPECIFIC ITEMS*

So, I was on ebay and such places looking for intakes and other random items....

I want to put an intake in my car but spedning 270$ is hard for me right now....

there are a bunch of places on ebay that sell for 40-50$

OBVIOUSLY the filter itself will be trash so count another 50-60 for a nice one

why spend $230 on a k&N if this one will do the same as these systems:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-06...QQcmdZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...QQcmdZViewItem

what do you think?

load of crap or would it actually work???

if you think not, please tell me why

You get what you pay for...ebay intakes are not dyno proven. Other name brand intakes like, AEM are dyno proven...

Drop in Filter or Pop Charger are probably going to be you're best bet.

A pipe is a pipe, whether it has AEM, Injen or no name on it. If the filter on the end is good and there are no sharp kinks in it, it will function just as well as any name-brand product.

They are direct replicas of injen and aem. The part where you would lose power is the bends and length. They are exact same bend and length so they will perform exactly the same as long as you put a quality filter on the end of it. You are just paying for the name.

Also, one thing i dislike about ebay intakes are the cheaper couplers. Aem/Injen has nice couplers where it's threaded with thread inside the couplers for durability it wont' rip. Ebay has silicone couplers where if you tighten the clamps too tight, it will rip.

So you actually believe the dyno #'s provided by the manufacturers of these parts?

don't get it...since intakes dont make a big difference why dont you just get a popcharger? Ebay intakes are crap from what i have seen on friends cars with intake pipes being super thin to them rubbing with areas in the engine bay.

i bought an ebay intake. it sounds awsome! it was $50 shipped. i would recommend buying a k&n cone filter instead of the one it comes with though. buy it if you want your car to sound meaner but you don't really gain and hp

Yes I do. If the dyno numbers are not true, than I'll be seeing them in court lol.

Get one of those knock offs and if you really want to go budget but name brand, the AEM outlet store has dirt cheap filters on ebay.

it's not true. So many people have dynoed less than 5whp which you won't feel. All you get is sound from an intake. It also bogs and makes your car slower .

I have had an ebay intake and an aem intake, they are EXACTLY the same. This is why it's called "ebay" items, they are all replicas...such as blow off valves, intercoolers, intakes, exhaust...all same design..cheaper quality but the same design.

I have yet to see an ebay intake that has the design of the newer injen intakes though where it has the maf into the pipe rather than the peice of plastic.

All of these intakes are for sound. There are no gains..i'm trying to tell you. You will lose hp...well, let me rephrase, you will "feel" like you lost hp when you drive it daily.

If you have a short ram or just a popcharger, you will get heatsoak and your car will feel so slow.

If you have a Cold air intake, the pipe is longer where you feel you would have to press the gas pedal down harder to even go.

I'm talking about this from experience and not from my ***.

so intakes across the board are not worth it....i dont need noise, that i already have...

I put a K&N sheet filter in the factory box and its fine, but im just lookin at the cheap HP numbers, and if yall say its not going to do anything then ill save my 50$

Thanks guys!

Ricer logic... Go by what's printed on the box and calculate rwhp from that info. Good luck on the court issue (apparently you haven't read the fine print on those packages).

that's what i did and i'm happy. Still i dont' feel any gains but i know that repsonse is better than that with an intake.
