From your questions I gather that you are more concerned with both rasp and highway drone vs a couple of HP gain. Plain test pipes are raspy and the drone will be annoying. If you are turbo, they will quiet down some. Resonated test pipes are the way to go, unless you want to go the "green" route and get high flow cats.

FYI, I have HFCs w/Nismo exhaust, my neighbor has resonated TPs w/Injen exhaust. Although the Injen is louder than the Nismo to begin with, the difference is obvious. His has significantly more rasp and the drone is quite annoying in my opinion. He likes it, so the perception to rasp/drone is entirely subjective.

Research exhausts on youtube, go listen to some in person if possible. If you cant, then flip a coin and go with it! Go luck

Honestly, if youre asking then its not for you. If you are remotely concerned with the rasp, and think it will be annoying to you, then just dont buy them. You are just going to regret it.

The resonated are what you want - if you want testpipes at all. You can save the bad smell and rasp, and go with the FI HFC's as well. You'll only see a ~1-3 hp difference between them.

im running some non resonated invidia pipes.i was like you skeptical. Yeah it does rasp a little when letting off throttle etc. But i did feel a decent kick in the *** for 150 bucks so im not wining. And the only time i can tell i even have testpipes on my car from the inside is when i get above 3300 rpm. Which i never do unless getting on highway etc. Im def. happy with my purchase.

look at the FI test pipes and the Core they use. Its a really good test pipe and usually thats nothing to brag about since its just a pipe but , if you dont want rasp i mean. really get teh FI res man. And some non foulers.
