Default Rattle-free test pipes ???

Hello everyone...

I read about test pipes rattling due to the fact that most lack of the brackets usually used on standard catalyzers to firmly keep everything in place.

Can you point out which test pipes are equipped with brackets etc. in order not to rattle and please point out if CEL light is lit when used.

Thanks a million!

Cool! What kind of gains are expected by just adding helix v2 test pipes to a completely stock 350z exhaust line?

Do a google products search for test pipe 350Z. Its pretty easy to see which pipes have a mounting bracket.

David, thanks for your advice.

Generally I prefer "real life" hints from ppl who actually own the very same products who have the chance to test them on their cars and give some extra feedback (like SuperBlack did).

I am also trying to figure out the real benefits of test pipes over a completely stock Z exhaust line.

berk technology makes good test pipes, too bad they're non-resonated and WILL rasp, but a plus on those is they have a built in O2 bung type thing.

Thanks everyone...

So "rasping" has nothing to do with the brakets right?

Is it just the "resonated" test pipes that do not rasp AT ALL ??

And braket-less test pipes are instead subject to rattles...

Is this accurate?

If i want to keep the original exhaust manifolds... should i buy the 2,25" size test pipes or the more generous 2.5" ??

What is the rule here?

Thanks again for your patience (i am a total noob).

Ciao, Carlo

Rasp is a side effect of some exhaust mods. Some members hate it, others do not mind.

A resonated test pipe will have less effect on the overall exhaust tone than a non-resonated pipe.

Members have had problems with both bracket and no-bracket pipes. I am not certain that there clear reliability choice.

I can honestly say that it was definately a big difference when i put it on my stock car. I'm not the one who "feels" gains after intakes, exhausts, etc... But i really felt some strong pulls higher in the redlines. Best 200 i spent.

Any other vendor you may suggest?

it's probably because of your magnaflow. Resonating doesn't make a huge difference. You will still get rasp. Some exhaust are good with test pipes, some are not.

+100000

Rasp seems to be a big concern when it comes to exhausts on the Z & G. If you want to run test pipes with a catback and do not want any rasp at all, get the FI Intimidator.
