Default '06 air box???

i've heard people say that the '06 air box is the best intake. is there a difference in the '06 air box from previous models?? i know most people like the pop charger. is there is a difference with the '06 air box, is it normally better with a K&N air filter or the pop charger??

yeah , the 06 airbox has a different venturi ring/velocity stack which supposedly makes airflow a bit better.

i've been through all intakes and what i've come to is that the stock intake is the best all around. My car doesn't feel sluggish while daily driving with stock intake.

I have an '06 with a K&N drop-in filter, and I've noticed a difference ever since I put the filter in. Don't believe me? Try it. The car breathes easier. I'm going to stick with the stock airbox throughout my tuning setup.

^^ I've tried it, and many others have too. There really isn't any measurable difference, and you sure as he11 didn't feel any. The drop ins have the same surface area as the OEM filter, so just the filter media is not going to make the difference that you claim. If you were to double or triple the surface area, such as you get with the cone filters, maybe.

But i thought that was the whole point of a K&N is that the filter midia flows better than a stock paper one. Also with some thing like the pop charger you may have more area but then you deal with the engine heat that you dont with the air box.

While the K&N may be less restrictive, that doesn't mean the engine will make gobs of hp, especially not any that you will feel. Also, not all aftermarket intakes are 'like the pop charger'. All the CAIs draw air from the outside, and several of the ram air intakes do also. Stillen and Gruppe M come to mind, and I'm sure there are others. Check out this thread.

Get the pop charger, the sound alone is worth it.

Audible pleasure, ftw.
