Talking Injen exhaust installed

Well finally got it installed. First off I need to send a big thanks to Kyle and Yuichi of Strictly Z for letting us use the shop today. Second I need to thank Dave (whatever) for setting up our meet today. And third thank to all the fellow Z owner that made it out for the meet. Great turnout.

The install was very basic and took a little over an hour (thanks for your assistance Kyle). I really love the sound of this thing - It's very quiet at idle but screams like crazy at WOT about 4000 (haven't tried the silencers that were included with the exhaust).

I was surprised because the production exhaust actually sounds a bit deeper and more throaty than the testing videos on Injen's web site. There were about 10 of us at the shop and everybody was surprised at how much deeper the actual the production exhaust sounds compared to the video.

Took a few runs up Almaden Expressway to about 90-100 (no traffic) and the car really pulls a lot harder. You can also really hear the Injen CAI at WOT, much more so than with the stock exhaust. In addition the throttle response is much better now.
Of course the bad side is that my gas milage is going to suck now because I can't stop driving WOT high RPM I'm sure TX Style has been experiencing this for a couple of days now

On a final note, please don't turn this thread into a Borla vs Injen battleground . I'm sure the gains on both exhausts are extremely similar and both exhausts are great dual set ups. If you like Borla then get the Borla- if you like the Injen, get the Injen.

MGV156 took some video so hopefully he can find someone to host it so you all can hear it.

Here's a few pics. Enjoy.

Awsome man! Did you dyno it?

Also, my concern was that the tips didn't seem to come out all the way, does yours? Because if it doesn't, over time it will mess up the paint on the bumper won't it? Thanks!! VERY NICE! Do you have more pics at eye level rear?

Thanks Ricky. No Dyno yet- I told VQ Racer i would try to get a baseline and then one with the CAI and exhaust later this month- I've got a few days off of work near the end of June so I'll see if I can get to the dyno shop.

Injen actually extended the exhaust so it's a bit longer than the prototype pics that were on their website. Discoloration should no longer be an issue.

I think Whatever or MGV156 may have some other pics.

Looks awesome, I guess Philip was right about the tips being extended to clear the exhaust burn marks. It looks really nice, I just have to wait to see the gains and looks of the Borla True Dual, but whatever I get it will be true dual.

Talking Hmm..

Jason,

Let me know if you need any help with the exhaust if there is any noise issues.

Also since you bring dyno up, let me know as I need to take my car to the dyno again in the near future. Hmm maybe we can pull another Dyno day event heh who knows. Other then that I need to do a dyno myself

zya!

Thanks for the compliments all.

Yuichi- Let me know when you want to go to dyno. Weekends are best but I can always sneak away from work at lunch to get an "after install" dyno.

On a separate note- I was driving around tonight feeling out the exhaust. Some guys in a Ford F150 Lightning pulled along side me after pacing me and complimented me on the exhaust and it's sound. Bonus.

That's looking nice! I wish I could get an earfull!!

You know, I was going to get the Stillen Duel exhaust but now I think not. By the way how much does that Injen system weigh? I'm leaning towards Borla or, now, Injen.

Just about 42 lbs. Stock is about 70 lbs to the best of my knowledge.

Yes, that's excellent. As you know the Stillen duel is, I think, about 25 lbs. over stock weight. I should have come over at your tech day yesterday. I changed my oil in my garage all by myself. it was pretty easy as their is a cutout provided in the gravel guard under the motor.
Oh man, that little itsy bitsy, teency weency nissan oil filter cost me 10 bucks at the dealer, unbelievable! Six quarts of Mobil1 syn. was $23 at Costco.
