If aftermarket exhausts are making gains and have dyno's to prove it, then the stock must be restrictive in some way. Aftermarket exhausts from reading everyone's opinion or review for their exhaust, sound deeper and better than stock. I know you might like your stock exhaust, but their's always room for improvement.

I would get a new exhaust but I hate the abnoxiously loud exhaust. It drives me nuts on long drives and wakes up the neiborhood when parking and driving on side streets

Well, it really depends on your priority. Do you like a deeper sound and better looks, or do you want more HP. The stock exhaust is quite free flowing, as most aftermarket exhausts, excluding Borla and Injen, are producing only 5-8 HP over stock. With 5-8 HP, you'll most likely not going to notice a difference. So with that in mind, you decide.

I like the sound of the stock exhaust as well, but something with the same tone that's just slightly louder would make the car feel a little more exciting in my view. I'll probably purchase the NISMO unit. It adds 8HP and reports on the sound quality are encouraging. Was considering the Borla dual but the number of pieces in the unit makes me worry about exhaust leaks down the road.

If you like the sound of the stock, but want a little more, try removing the resonator. It's a little louder and does put out a little more power according to my butt. I think I'll more than likely go with a true dual system though. I have a G35, and Borla doesn't make a system for it, and doesn't know if they will. With this in mind, I'll probably have a muffler shop fab up a system patterned after the Borla. The shop uses MagnaFlow Mufflers. Anybody know anything about their two in two out model?
