Default Question about my test pipes

Ok, I just picked up a set of T-Pros test pipes from another member on this site. The seller didn't mention whether or not bolts or anything else came with the pipes, and I was too n00bish to ask. When I finally emailed him, after receiving the pipes, he said they never came with the bolts and such.

Anyway, where can I find bolts and the gaskets for these test pipes? I've searched some, but haven't found anything. Thanks.

Reuse the bolts off your cats?
Order some new gaskets from Nissan?
Or is there something special about these TPs

Honestly, I have no idea... I asked a friend of mine, about reusing the bolts from my stock cats, and he says they probably won't fit. Said it was a bad idea anyway, if I ever wanted to remove the TP's. Because the stock bolts will rust because they're not stainless steel. << that doesn't quite sound right, but I guess that's why I'm asking on here... lol.

Haven't thought about ordering the gaskets from Nissan. I know, pretty n00bish...

I'm pretty sure I've reused bolts installing TPs before. I do not know this 'rust' you speak of, I live in the desert

Ok, I guess I'll give using the stock bolts a try. Thanks for your help.

you will probably be able to get some of the bolts off your cats but honestly, depending on age and climate, you will most likely end up cutting a couple bolts. Mine were stubborn even with a release agent. Good thing is when you get one off, you can find it at your local home depot or something similar. Cheap stuff, easy to find usually. Gaskets i would suggest ordering them from the manufacturer of your test pipe. I found that one of my gaskets were toast after removing a cat. Good luck with the top bolts, there a *****.

The Nissan dealer will have gaskets. About $40/4.

For a quality job I recommend marine grade stainless steel hardware.

reuse your old gaskets. they are metal, they really dont need to be replaced unless they are torn up which is highly unlikely. as for the bolts, just measure how long they need to be. it doesnt have to be an exact fit.

Just go out and buy the following:

Qty 8 M10x1.5 (or 1.25) x 35mm long bolts
Qty 8 M10 nuts (matching thead pitch of course)

It's preferable to use A2 stainless bolts, if they don't have A2, ask for cadium plated, if they don't have that ask for zinc plated, if they don't have that then they probably don't know what you are talking about.

Or, use standard american 3/8" nuts & bolts (1.25" long) which can be found at any Home Depot, Lowes, etc, but they most likely will not have A2 stainless.

Second the gaskets. They can be re-used over and over again.

Just go to Home Depot as other people have stated to get the bolts and nuts. I have found out that you can actually use your stock gaskets when doig this install, I hear they work just as good as new ones. The top bolt is a b**** to get off.

Ok, thanks everybody. I really appreciate all of the help.

Ok, so I'll re-use my stock gaskets. I really don't think they'll be messed up. The car is only 1 year old, and it's my DD. And I've babied it from day-1. And I'll go over to Home Depot and look for the bolts when I get a chance.

Thanks again.

that top bolt is a pain to get off but be patient, you will get it eventually. I got some stainless steel bolts and lock washers and nuts from autozone, you will only need 4, there are 2 bolts that are in the stock cats that dont come out, you can just use the nut that was on there for those. Depending on your cat back set up, you may need 4 more bolts and nuts for where the TP connect to that.
