Haha, I can't imagine that being safe. But I have seen guys do this at the track, really made an impact in their numbers. =)

on the 03-05 no, the stock intake is not the best. on the revup, yes the popcharger does lose power.

Pop charger has a hideous useless heat shield. I'd rather get a stock intake with a drop in filter or a Stillen intake.

Every aftermarket intake sounds great and looks better than stock...

As long as you're happy, guess that's what matters

anyone experience any noticeable increases in gas mileage? i've checked threads through the years and keep getting yes and no answers. somehow i don't think these cars react to mods as well as my old 4th gen max 5sp did.

It's because most of the Z upgradeable parts aren't as "conservative" as the 95-99 or 00-03 (used to be a 5th gen driver) Maxima.

Here, here.

I recall you posting Maxima.Org, I think. I came from a 2001 SE. It was a factory freak, I loved it.

I swapped out the popcharger for the 06 stock intake about a week ago, and I tell ya, the stock is a night and day difference over the popcharger. The torque, acceleration, and overall driveability is back home with the stock. Im so happy I'm getting rid of the popcharger. Im actually giving it to my friend free of charge.

I still can't believe how much faster the stock intake is over the popcharger.

Think you guys just convinced me to spend my money else where heh.Not that big on the gulp or suction sound from intakes to be honest. That sound you hear soon as the tb open wide open isnt the best to my ears. I took out the piping after my air filter in my accord and I thought it was cool for a day. I then regretted ever doing it. It was the intake resonator that I removed. I got so sick of hearing the sound everytime I revved it.

If you had a plenum spacer, you wouldn't notice any loss of power at all. I still don't regret my purchase, as there just doesn't seem to be a loss of power.

a plenum spacer has nothing to do with whether an intake functions or not

one buys an intake for these cars because they 1. like the look and/or 2. likes the sound

I did the exact same thing last summer.

I think the sound of the intake makes a person think they are actually accelerating faster. Like others have said, the feeling of the stock intake is a night and day difference that can be felt right away if you have had an intake installed more than a couple of months. Even in winter, after about 30 minutes of driving, heatsoak still occurs.
