Default really weird "Is this normal" situation

well, its sorta odd, not "really weird", anyways

so, lately it has been getting down into the high 30's around my area lately, so I switch over my coolant control valve back to open.

well, Im on my way home from my girls house when I see a 2 mile straight away on the freeway with no cars behind or in front. well, I get up to 110 mph, the first time ive taken it over 100.

so, i get home 5 minutes later and pop the hood, Im expecting a semi warm plenum and throttle body...

Well when I touch them, they feel like they both just came out of the freezer, so I am thinking one of two things

1. Its normal simply because of the cold air,

or 2. my ccv when reopened somehow is not flowing the warm coolant to the throttle body.

anyone have any answers or ideas

It's absolutely normal. The CCV affects the coolant flow to the TB only. The manifold is warmed up only incidentally. With the short drive you had, the low temperatures, and the high speed, the intake was exactly as I've observed on my car before. That's one reason I never touch the CCV and wish I had never put it on in the first place. It really makes a relatively small difference in manifold temps, and probably NO difference in power.

CCV valve really kicks ***. I just installed my kit this weekend, and it's in the upper 50s here. Hot or Cold, my plenum was untouchable after reaching operating tempature, but now i can rest my hand on it no problem. Amazing upgrade, i would have to say that is normal.... ENJOY!

Its not a problem.

The hot engine coolant going through the open CCV is pumping a lot of heat into the plenum even if the overall temperature is still low.

I was driving in the same weather conditions today at about 80MPH with light meth/water injection. The injection took temps down another 30' to about -1' intake temperatures.

Why such a test? ...I just want to see what water/meth spray would do in cold weather.

No dyno tests of it yet but I'm working on it. Still need to optimize some tuning.
