Default About to buy a used Borla TD. Need some expertise to judge condition

12/27 Edit: It's here! Gonna' run out soon to get some polish for it. =D

I'm buying a Borla TD that's been on another member's car for 8k miles. Before I commit 120%, could you guys take a look at these pics and tell me if there's anything wrong. They look fine to me, but reassurance would be nice - or in case I may be overlooking something. Don't wanna' drop $600+ on something without being certain of its shape.

They're small pics, but it's all I have to work with. Thanks guys. =)

Whoa... I can't even click on them for an enlargement.

I was going to check the tube ends for crush marks but I can't see enough to say much of anything.

don't do it........If you are thinking about FI in the future then don't go with Borla. I made that mistake in the begining with my z.

Get the Greddy Evott TT, at least you will be ready for future FI.

Looks to be good. As long as the tips are in good condition, since that's all you see when installed.

dont do it...borla is notorious for leaking since the exhaust pieces do not join by bolts like other after market exhaust out there.

It's an easy fix though. Very easy to locate leaks on this unit.

only hard gasket to replace is the one from the cat to the header. Notorious for leaks is due to improper installation.

Exhaust looks to be in decent shape. $450 would be a good price.

ok, about the leaks, i rocked the borla for awhile, if you have it installed correctly you will have zero problems with leaks. you really have to install this exhaust like a newb for it to leak. when i sold mine, you wouldnt believe how hard it was to take apart all the pieces, the pipes were stuck like you wouldnt believe. the sound is BADASS. im sporting the greddy evo TT and i still miss my borla. from the pics all i can see are minor rust spots, who cares its the outside piping.

if you want the exhaust, get it. if you plan on TT dont do it. if you plan on staying N/A or supercharger get it. you wont regret it.

i miss my borla.

No plans for FI, at all. And as far as the leaks, I've also heard that it'd only occur with a poor install.

Will this just bolt straight up? Or do I need some additional hardware besides the exhaust itself?

that's all you need. you will be reusing some stock metal gaskets.

You'll love this exhaust!!! It keeps the notorious Z sound, but adds a deeper tone or growl...It's also a great exhaust if you plan to add HFC's or TP's...

this is a great exhaust - nice system! At $600+ - WAY over priced - new is only about $100 or so more shipped. Research pricing, buy brand new.

I've never liked buying used exhaust systems. You never know how the car it was on really ran, was tuned, etc. A wrong tune, no tune with mods, etc. will greatly impact a systems integrity. Too rich or lean will destroy the packing etc.

Well, it's 550+ shipping. Can you PM me a site where I can find it for 700? I've only seen it for 1k on Intense. I think you may be confusing it with the single...

if you look closely, they are on the pipes. They are the more silver pieces.

I had a friend install my Borla TD, then I took it apart to install my sways, and then put it back together. It's fine, just tighten everything down and if you're still not sure, put some sealant on the joints. Over 10k no leaks.

That's good news. I'm not the DIY type, so my shop will install this for me, as usual. My guy warranties his work for 6 months, and will fix anything wrong free of charge. And his prices are always the best out there.

Edit: And I looked around for a Borla TD for $700, all I found was the single exhaust for that price. Only Performance Factory had the TD for $900 + shipping, which would still be close to 1k.

i got mine for $899 shipped to the door no tax. www.crutchfield.com *edit* scratch that they want eleven hundred for them now.... ouch

Ah yes, i do see them, those aren't the clamps that come with the exhaust. The clamps that came with my new set up were much more heavy duty.
