WOW is all I can say. I've had the Z for about 6 weeks now. I have 4400 miles on it. I ordered my Borla dual exhaust from Summit a few days ago. (I've been told to expect it on July 8th)

Anyway, I decided I needed a baseline Dyno so I can see just how well the mods actually perform.

Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, but I do have the numbers. My good friend (from the Miata boards) actually videoed two pulls, one of me in the car, the second of the actual readout throuhout the dyno run. As soon as he gets them up, I'll post a link to them as well.

So, how'd a BONE STOCK 350Z Performance 6MT do?

Peak HP 251.47 @ 6225 RPM
Peak Torque 237.82 @ 4950 RPM

The strangest thing I noticed is that I made 4 runs. I made a few MORE HP and Torque Each run. I had assumed that the first run (Also the coolest) would make the most power. I was incorrect.. it was actually the fourth run that made the most...

(I was PLEASANTLY surprised at the numbers... I think the 5 coats of Blackfire really helped a lot.)

 

That's a kick *** dyno- 93 octane definitely makes a difference- too bad all we get in CA is 91
Do you know what brand of dyno it was? When does the Borla go on?

The Borla was ordered, and Summit expects to ship it out on July 3rd. Due to the 4th being a Holiday I have been told to expect delivery on July 8th. It'll be on a shortly after I receive it. I plan to drive it a few days then and go back for another Dyno run and compare the results.

As for the type of Dyno... It was a Mustang MD-1750...

This shop is the only one with a Public Dyno within 65 miles of me. They Actually own a "retired" NHRA ProStock car that they now race...

 

VERY nice dyno!!! damn 94 octane! ya, failsaf3 it sucks to be in CA, except for all the sunshine ya know j/k we have a station here that fills with 100 octane, i mix it with 91 half and half, so im good....except for my wallet

 

Actually it sounds about right. It's the laws of thermodynamics at work. In short, the larger the gradient between the temperature of the air coming in, and the temperature of the engine, the more efficient it is.

not that it means anything...but here's txstyle borla dyno. dont get ur hopes up.

 

Where can you get 100 octane??

 

Just remember, he didn't have a baseline to go with, not to mention those wheels he had on his car are SUPER heavy. So we'll just have to wait and see.

I just read TXStyle's Borla dyno... My questions I have are this...

1.) Was a baseline dyno done in the same conditions? Temp, humidity, etc?

2.) more importantly... was the baseline Dyno done on the SAME dyno?

3.) It appears as though TXStyle also had a change of wheels and Tires as well as the Borla when doing this Dyno...


I can't see how the Borla would have REDUCED Hp and Torque...

In a few weeks we shall see. I'm making NO other mods, and taking the Z back to the Exact same dyno after the Borla is on. Either way, I'm extremely happy with the Dyno... Hope to have the videos up somewhere very soon...

 

there is a 76 station in newport beach that carries it. i think if you go to the main 76 station site, you can find a station just select "race fuel" as on of the options when you search for one.

 

wow good numbers....I wish we could get higher than 91 octane here.

Unfortunately, the second Vid was simply a shot of the Dyno computer read outs... however when viewing it, the ambient lighting was quite poor and all you see is the reflection of the outside light.


I WILL post my Borla results with a Video (including audio) after the install and a few days of break in. (I know there have been a lot of promises and lot of disappointment about lack of Borla dynos recently... but.... I now have my baseline and will return to the exact same Dyno after the install... (I'll even be sure to use the same Sunoco 94 fuel.. I'm just **** about details like that)

You're all going to have to wait just a few weeks though as delivery of the Borla is scheduled for July 8th)

 

I'm no dyno expert, but I heard that Mustang Dyno's usually read a little high. Nonetheless, those are good numbers. Please keep us posted with the Borla.

 

Not no expert with dynos or exhaust, but I read somewhere on this forum (think in Exhaust forum) that you should wait a few weeks to dyno after putting on exhaust. Exhaust needs to break in a bit and completely seal. Will save you the possible disappointment and cash.

Definately Keep us posted. Look forward to hearing your results. Also, your hp baseline numbers are higher than a lot of baseline dynos by others. You gots a good pick of the crop.
