Default Powerlab 3/8 plenum spacer

I did the install, although I do have a question or 2. I did the search and what I need is not out there. Issue one?? The spacer fits flush all the around the the plenum except on the right side by the short ram intake pipe. The spacer sticks out about a 1/4 of an inch. Everything fits proper the spacer just hangs out?? Second issue??.... The car runs normal, no heat issues all gauges read normal, but when I run through the gears about 4500 rpm plus the rev changes sound.{Sounds like a louder faster growl) When I am out of gear and not moving I can rev up with no change in the sound.
2005 350z r. 6 speed manual trans 21000 miles.

I would return it RMA. Where did you get the spacer from?

Your the first person to have these "issues" to my knowledge. Call whomever you order it from and ask them. I think pictures can better aid your claim. IMO

I will add a pic tomorrow as I am at work right now. I ordered it from Intense motorsports. Shipping was good no issue there. I will snap that shot and review my work tomorrow morning. I will report back...

Here is the juice... After spending all morning doubting myself, I took the thing apart for a total reinstall. The part is on the only way it wil go on. The noise I heard at high rpms was a vibration caused by the strut bar on the driver side touching the plenum when the engine torqued over. Here is the basic fix add some washers to the driver side spacers. That will pick up the strut bar and give it just enought clearance. All 4 driver side spacers are 7mm
= not enough. The passenger side spacers are 11mm = to tall. The bolts fit down, but the you can not get the nut back on the post on the passenger side. I see some grinding in the future. This was supposed to bolt on LOL. On the plus side I had no vaccum leaks what so ever.

Glad to see you got it fixed!! Is it possible the spacers are on opposite sides?

Thank you for the attention to this. Did you try switching the spacers on the opposite side? I understand that PowerLab instructions state passenger side 11mm and drivers 7mm though this appears to be different in your vehicle.

We here at Intense have personally installed on over 10 vehicles in house as per PowerLab instruction with no issue although thanks to people like yourself doing installs as well; this helps Intense Motorsports inform PowerLab to adjust directions or add that some vehicles may vary.

If this switch of spacers does not solve your issue please contact me Pete{IntenseAero} and I will help in any manner. 480-926-8797

In the area of mention where it is approximately 1/4 inch overage in material this is additional sealing surface as designed by PowerLab. Sealing is perfect and dead on from underneath, rest assured.Thank you for allowing me to clarify that for the public.

I will post pics of under side sealing surfaces later for everyone.
Thank you for the support.

Hmmm so the spacers for the strut bar don't always add up right and can cause clearance issues?

I see the fit problem. Not a functional problem but I would find the improper fit aggravating.

As IntenseAero said, they have done this install on over 10 vehicles In-House, and have never had the same problem. I'm sure the OP is glad to have the issue corrected, and if there is any further issues, IntenseAero already stated he would be more than happy to help.

Hellos,

Thanks again OP for your purchase and your thread.

We have relayed to PowerLab to revise the instructions to state that the end user needs to measure each side to determine whether to use the 7mm or the 11mm. As Pete stated, we have installed this spacer on several VQ's and have always used the 7mm on the driver and 11mm on the passenger side (as the instructions state).

Again, thanks.

I had no issues installing my spacer except fot the fact that i only got 4 of the little black plastic spacers for the mid plenum bolts instead of 6. weird.

Yup I will do some tweaking. Thanks for all the response!!! I will most likely be calling. To chrome silver 6 and Intense Aero do you have a pic of the side of the plenum right next to the short ram pipe after install? I was wondering if the overhang is normal. Perhaps the 05 roadster was just a little bit different?? Maybe I need some more new parts.............

I just looked at mine again and yes it hangs over on the drivers side by the intake tube about a quarter of an inch. This is nothing to worry about as the inside edge was flush. Ive had no leaks and no problems at all after about 300 miles.
