I'll probably do the installation tonight or tomorrow. The only thing I do not like are the blue rubber couplers. My engine bay has annodized red accents. I was contemplating how to replace these blue couplers. I believe Z toys manufactures some polished aluminum couplers. I will have to take a look into it.
If anyone has any installation tips or advice on the couplers, please feel free to chime in...
Enjoy the photos guys,
Val

More of this when it's in your engine bay.

The little inlet on the suction pipe, I'm going to cut that with an emery cutting wheel. Afterwards I'll file it down to perfection, so it doesn't have any uneven or jagged edges. Sucks I have to go through all this trouble.
BTW, if anyone has ever removed the stock air box, it's a b!tch to pull out. The bottom of the box has 2 male prongs that insert into rubber grommets. The grommets are attached to the frame of the car. What happens is the prongs freeze up and get stuck in there after a few years. When you go to pulling up on the box, it gives you a hard time. What I did to keep this from happening again was coat the rubber grommets with anti-seize lubricant. It's a couple dollars at Autozone...

I dont remember the tube near the firewall, ill have to double check mine, but I have the same problem with the front intake plastic, it contacts and protrudes, I still have not fixed it yet either. Ill take some pictures when i have a chance.

Anyways... looks awesome! I'm glad you're getting rid of the blue couplers; that'll make it look 10 times cleaner

When I did the test fit I noticed it was hard to line up the pipe straight with the air box. The blue couplers are silicone and allowed flex, which made it fit ok. The Py-thon locks are hard aluminum and will not be flexible. Once I get everything tightened down I'll see if I can align everything up straight...

mines more under the pipe than to the side see if you can turn it a little.

the metal contacts with the radiator housing as well, and the plastic intake piece protrudes a little i was thinking of just removing it.

picture of the whole thing together
The logos look like they are in the same place though. Does it not look like he'd have to rotate the whole thing too far down? I don't know... obviously its easier to see in person I'd presume.

After seeing the pics HR Autoparts posted, it would appear that my intake tube had some type of manufacturer flaw in it. The small inlet pipe under the intake tube was welded in the wrong position. No problem, I like the challenge. It just gave me an excuse to pull out more tools...
First thing I started on was cutting the inlet pipe. I used a Dremmel, then followed up with a file and tiny grinding wheel to smoothen out the inner portion off the inlet pipe.
I've got a bunch of pictures. It's going to take me a few minutes to get everything uploaded.
Intake tube freshly cut..

Inlet pipe after it was cleaned up..

As you can see, the 1 inch of piping I cut off allowed a smooth bend for the underside tubing..

Next on my hit list was the front air duct. I had to get it out of the radiator housing in order to cut it precisely, so it would look good. At first I used tinning shears, but that proved difficult to cut on account of the angle and limited space. In the end I used a Stanley box cutter. It worked perfect.

After all the modifications to the mods, everything was ready for installation. It took awhile to work the intake tube, align, and get all the tie down clamps uniformed. After a couple glasses of wine and a sore back, I finally got everything in place and secure. I'm really glad the blue couplers are flexible, because you need the extra play when getting everything aligned. This flexiblilty is making me think twice about purchasing aluminum Py-thon locks for the intake. I brainstormed a few options last night. One thought was to change out my oil cap to the blue ARC one and change out my hose locks to anodized blue. I could always sell both items here on the forum.
