I know its been discussed but....AEM vs Injen
Yea the AEM has a bypass valve. They both go in different locations under your hood. AEM goes by your wheel well while the injen is in front grille. And i think that the injen has a larger piping diameter. Claimed hp gains are about the same for the two but you should know that the bypass valve will lose some of that power because it creates a small leak in the piping. I chose injen due tot eh location where it is mounted so it gets more cold air. And i think that the injen looks better imo.
Grr freakin browser... deleted my message when I back-arrowed...
OK, once again...
I have the AEM on my car and don't regret the decision. It works well, and it looks great. I bought the AEM for two very importan reasons: 1) it was $35 cheaper, and 2) I could get it in RED and most places on the web were saying that the Injen only comes in chrome now.
If I did it all over again I'd probably get the Injen, just because I like their placement a little better. But it's a pretty minor detail.
I was also thinking of something interesting I could do. I was thinking of getting a dryer vent, cutting a hole in the bottom shroud, and mounting it there to get a sorta ram-air effect. The only thing that concerns me is possible picking up a whole bunch of road crap and spraying it all over my filter and in the wheel well. Not sure if there is any metal in there that might corrode.
What do think?
As you can see my car's a Brickyard Red (I LOVE that color... very under-rated), which is why I chose the red CAI.
