Default Injen or AEM short RAM air intake

have anyone installed an Injen or AEM short ram air intake?

How does it look? Any problem? Does it sound a hell lot better then stock when you get past the 4K RPM mark?

I know it probably take out a few ponies as it suck in hot air of the engine bay, anyone had problem with it? Will the ECU go all crazy because it is now sucking in hot air when the car is stilling at a traffic light?

If you are looking for the sound without sucking up hot air just remove the inlet to the air box. It pops out.

I try the search, but all of the topics I found are for CAI, no one really have post anything for short ram intake.

I am not sure about taking the intake inlet off, but I did thought about it. The reason is that there seems to be nothing at the end of that intake to stabalize it once the intake inlet is out, I worry that vibaration may cause the intake to rub a hole in something, like the badly installed AEM intake.

I basically are asking for people who have injen short ram, or even the JWT/injen hybird, does the car sound alot better.

I am really looking for sound more then power. I am trying to build a driver street car, not an all out race car. I am looking for better sound out of the car over the 4K range without reliability issue. Thats why I would want to have current info if you guys can provide.

Nothing will rub. I took mine out last night. The airbox is an inch away from the front frame area. It has the sound you are looking for and will not rub and is free and intakes do not provide a worthwhile gain especially for any amount of money over 10 dollars (IMHO). So if you are looking for sound, this is your answer. If you are looking for more power, then an intake really isn't a valid solution. Especially one that has the filter under the hood. Besides, a pressurized airbox is a good thing.

Of course, taking the front off will cause it to suck hotter air from inside the engine bay, which could hurt your performance.

Okay, that sounds like something I can try.

By the way, when you say the inlet pipe, is it the little square that connect the intake box to the core support, or are you talking about the entire front side of the air box?

Got some pics?

Just the little square tube. I think the amount of hot air will be extremely negligible especially compared with having the whole filter in there.
