Default X02 Install Help Needed ASAP

hey guys,
I'm installing my x02 right now and am having a few difficulties. Aside from rusty bolts and hangers, I'm having a problem with the drivers side of the y-pipe. When I bolt on the y-pipe on that side, the flex joint area is touching the frame. Is this suppose to happen? If not, how do i fix it?

It will sit right when the full exhaust is bolted under the fullweight of the system before you torque down the entire system. What year of Z do you have???

No it will rattle. Or the flex joint will start to leak. Try different adjustments ... alway conect everything then tighten that side first while adjusting it as far from the frame as posible. Then tighten the rest of the exhaust.

I guess I'll have to try another day. I bolted everything up and took it around for a 30 min drive. No rattles or anything. When I reinstalled, I held everything up with the bolts and when everything was together, I tightened the bolts in this order (rear 2, midpipe, y-pipe).

Always start at the cats. Then move rearward. The flex joind up against the frame will stress it and cause the joints to seperate and leak.

PS I do a lot of work on Zs here in Texas. Check my Texas - Installer thread for refference.

Actually now that I remember (Sry i'm working with the flu too), I bolted the y-pipe on first and it touched. Then said screw it for now and then worked from the 2 rear and then the mid pipe --> y-pipe. Maybe I just got a junk batch? One side of my tips didn't even align properly so I only have one screw holding in the rear passenger tip.

Anywho, when I do my suspension next week i'll check it. If not, take it to a shop and have them rebend that part of the pipe or something.

From the y pipe back the first piece going towards the rear can be mounted in either direction, either end can go towards the front of the car or towards the rear of the car. I had to change the orientaion to make sure my exhaust lined up correctly. i hope this helps.

Are you talking about the y-pipe section or the piece between the y-pipe and the exhaust canisters? If its that middle piece you're talking about, it can only go one way since the hanger for it is on the drivers side. If you flip the y-pipe around, then the flanges wouldn't match up between the y-pipe and the mid piece. In any case, I'll just run it as is for a week and then when I do my springs, I'll try rebolt it together again.
