Default Z Tube Question

Does the intake Z Tube have any benefits relating to air flow or air temp control or is it just a cosmetic peice? Are there any pros or cons to the Z tube?

I have searched and there are limited references to Z tubes.

I want to give my 35th only the best for a N/A car. So far it has MREV2 & 5/16, nismo exhaust and up to now a K&N in the stock box. Just got the Pop Charger with chrome Z tube. Next may be high flow cats and a reflash. For suspension so far I have installed hotchis sways and Nismo wheels with Falkens - what a huge positive difference overall these mods have made. Appearance, I've done 30% tint and LED clear corners with 4 LED's each. Down the road will be double din audio set up. I like hearing the engine and exhaust to much to even think about turning on the tunes!

Thanks for the input regarding the Z tube.
So far.....

Had you really searched, you would have known that the Z tube is the intake tube on a Z. I think a 35th Anniversary qualifies as a Z. The Z tube is a mod for a G. Now, don't you feel silly?

Here a pic of a of a stock 350Z intake tube (Z Tube) on the left, and a stock G35 intake tube (G Tube) on the right.

Like undrgnd said, it's a mod for a G35

Thanks for the replies. I did search, try it and see what comes up. These forums are excellent resources for people to share their knowledge, likes, dislikes and experiences. I done several ground up restorations, so I'm fairly proficient. I have always had much success helping others and learning from others on such forums. If a basic search doesn't help, sometimes the best way is to ask, even though to some a question will be silly. Z owners are a tough crowd no doubt. I love my Z and want to maximize its potential for performance as well as reliability. I did the same thing with Audi's, Vette's, Porche's and others. It is interesting how each forum has its own "personality" based on the badge on the car. Oh well. It's just silly. Thanks again for the reply and the pics were greatly appreciated. Looks like I may have a Z tube for sale in the near future hahahahahaha...
