Default Dumb question about plenum spacer install.

I installed my plenum spacer from Powerlab, I think the strut bar is spaced well enough that I don't hear the plenum hitting it anymore.

But if I had a leak from between the plenum / spacer would it sound like a ticking or almost like noisy valves? heh.... or I'm just being paranoid.......

any thoughts as to what a leak would sound like on the plenum? hah.

I noticed this sound on both my 06 revup and my wife's 06 revup when I installed the plenum spacer. I think the stock plemum does a good job of fintering out some of these sounds (prolly a design elemant) and when we change the shape and volume of the intake plenum chamber, more sounds make their way out. I'm gonna say it's normal and expected.

If you had an intake leak, you'd hear a hissing noise. If the leak was really bad, you'd have idle problems.

very true. thanks. first time i installed my spacer i had idle problems. Then i uninstalled it and installed it again, making sure the gasket was straight, and no problems

Yeah, it's idling fine. I'll just chalk it up to being a nub. :O

I was researching the 5/16''s spacer today on motordyne, there is a version that comes a copper gasket and it said that was to be used in colder climates that see snow. Anyone neglect using it?

the MD spacer doesn't have a copper gasket. The copper part is to isolate the heated throttle body from the plenum. It allows the TB to stay heated in the winter while preventing heat transfer to the plenum.
You can use a throttle body coolant bypass valve to get the same result, but you would have to remember to open it in the winter

Are most of you guys using the throttle body coolant valve or (whatever they call it) that came with the powerlabs spacer or not really? I didn't install mine, i just installed the spacer. Not sure if thats a bad thing or a good thing.

Also, are you guys noticing better performance with yours?

There was a spacer for the throttle body? I only saw the plenum spacer in my kit.....

I'm not sure if it's better performing. It sounds a little different. I'll just assume it's 4.0% more powerful.

The use of the stock gaskets is optional with the motordyne kit. I didn't use them as I don't plan on unistalling the kit even if I sell the car. The instructions said some people use the stock one just incase they want to take the spacer out when they sell the car or so but either way the intake will seal nice and tight.
