kinetix intake manifold plenum and MD5/16 intake spacer
would a kinetix intake manifold plenum and MD 5/16 intake spacer work well together? and what would the pros and cons of doing this if any?
IMO no, from what I gather the manifold is specifically designed as is. I wouldnt see a point in adding 5/16 to it; that mod is to help out the stock plenum. I could be wrong, just what I would think makes sense...
Yeah, they can't be used together.
The Kinetix has a central support column on the inside that needs to rest against the lower plenum. When you put a spacer on, that support column is raised up off the lower plenum and consequently, it no longer provides the needed support.
The Kinetix needs this support. Without it, the vacuum at idle sucks the top of the plenum down with great force. (Approximatly a 7 psi delta at idle over one square foot.) Hence the great force.
When you hit the gas, vacuum is lost and the the plenum top flexes back up again.
After any number of on/off vacuum cycles, the plenum may over stress and implode.
So no, the spacer and Kinetix plenum are not compatible.
