Default Tanabe Hyper Medallion With Berk HFC's

Well as some of you might know... my berk test pipes cracked about a week ago. Bryan over at Berks was kind enough to send me some metallic HFC's and is going to refund my money for the test pipes. Fitment was perfect and the sound is incredible. Still retains the VQ sound but when going WOT it wakes up the exhaust note. The only reason I'm posting this is because I haven't seen too many people with Tanabe Hyper Medallion with Berk HFC's. The cars feels like it pulls a lot better with HFC's than the test pipes. Don't know why but I'm happy with it. There's no rasp at all (which I hated with the TP's after a while). I will try to get a video up soon so you guys have can hear the sound. Overall I'm happy with the setup and the overall outcome of the whole issue with the TP's cracking.

Thanks Berk... and Bryan for helping me out.

The car hasn't been dyno'd yet. I'm thinking that possibly in a month or so... I'm taking the Saleen & 350z to do a few runs and tune the Saleen.

Enjoy the Berk's and Tanabe Y-Pipe

I am also interested in seeing some dyno numbers and listening to some sound clips. I will have almost the same setup as you do on my 03. I use my Z as a DD so hopefully the HFC wont make the Hyper Medallion too loud...

It wont be extremely loud. It does get loud when you open her up but other than that it's a mild tone.

Sorry to hear that bro... my test pipes didn't have brackets which leads me to think that was the reason they cracked. Fortunately the HFC's do come with the brackets and hopefully they wont crack. Just get under the car and have a look around. If it's cracked most likely it'll be at the flange where the HFC meets the Y-pipe.

Here's the video but I remind you it's not great nor good quality. It was taken with my iphone. I'm currently working on painting my grille so I only had time to take a 30 sec video... Over the weekend I'll post a better video with my canon.

In for better clips. I have also been looking into this exhaust. I hate rasp.

I have this exhaust and love the sound, I was looking into getting HFC's but was not sure which ones to get. I am still using my stock y-pipe, does it make a big difference when you upgrade the y-pipe?

Thanks for this information. cant wait to see your dyno results.

Some people have said that the Y-pipe doesn't really make much of a difference. Maybe the sound note but no big difference that you can actually feel. That was my experience but maybe some other peeps might have a different outlook.

maybe wrong but i think you loose more low end torqe with test pipes, but feel it more high end?
and i think replacing the oem ypipe is a good ideal not just for sound, but for performance. i always thought the oem ypipe was also to restrictive.

Thanks for replying.

Do you feel a substantial difference with your HFCs? versus just the exhaust?

I am trying to see if it will be worth getting them when I purchase the y-pipe.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the thing... When I had test pipes i felt some loss of power. Don't know why. When I put the HFC's on i did notice a increase in power. It wasn't a substantial amount but it is noticeable. I think they are worth it and not only that the sound is incredible.
