Any pics of the actual filter? Nobody ever seems to post those. Lol~ I'd like to see what it looks like, and how much surface area it has relative to other intakes.

Thanks.

No matter what it will have less heat soak than the all popular JWT. It's shielded in carbon fibre!

I'd like that too, however i don't know that you'll find it as not many people have the mishimoto intake. there are only 3 people in this thread that have said that they do.

in regards to tube temperature, this should most definately be lower than stock as i believe CF has a lower heat conduction rating than stock.

And the shield pretty much speaks for itself! If you look at where the shield and filter sits, its right in front of the stock intake duct!

yurp, i understand that it will def be better than stock, but i am trying to compare it to my nismo... i am trying to decide what i am going to throw on in the winter, or if i should just leave the nismo on year-round, or just drop the nismo all together till i get some more flow mods and use this instead in the meantime. my nismo is amazing, but i simply do not have the mods required to utilize its full potential. the component temps on my nismo have shown lower than ambient temperatures and i am glad/impressed, but i need another intake to compare to.

also, OP, can you pm me info in regards to who sold you this intake?

Soooooooo..... When the filter on this handy-dandy intake gets dirty, do you:

A) Get a new filter from somewhere
B) Clean the filter & oil it. And if so, how many times can it be cleaned and re-oiled before it starts falling apart?

If you look at the picture you will notice that the filter is held in place with a large O-ring clamp.

The filter is cleanable as it is a 4 Layer Cotton & Aluminum Mesh High Flow Air Filter.

When the tine comes for replacing it, just get one that is the same diameter.

Thanks for posting pics. What's with that big metal cap blocking the center of the filter?? The Mishimoto filter surface area looks pretty small compared to others. And that metal cap ain't helping. It's only gonna flow halfway decently at the expense of not filtering very well. Not worth injesting sand and dust particles into the engine to get a small filter to flow well.

I think I'll stick with my 06 airbox and Amsoil drop in until I can afford a Gruppe-M.... I also heat shielded the entire length of my factory intake to help minimize heatsoak issues. Not as sexy as the Mishi, but effective.

I do like the look of the Mishimoto CF though!! If they could make something comparable to the Gruppe-M ($1000) at half the price, I'd be all over it.

I'm sorry guys since I have a intake already I dont check this part of the forum out much but I'm here now, I'll tell you now I drove my car in 98+ weather and felt very very very minimal heat soak compared to 55-65 degree weather with the popcharger.and the sound is nuts
edit:big butt gains compared to the charger

I think nobody should buy this intake if he wants any gain. I was looking for sound with a minimal hp loss.

If this intake makes me lost 5hp, i´m not worried about that. The sound it´s fantastic.

Sorry for my bad english.

so, you are saying you measured the heat soak? how did you do that or like a butt dyno, are you just guessing (or trying to justify yourself for paying $300+ on a filter). plus you might want to do some research into just what heatsoak is and the cause of it. FYI, it has nothing to do with the intake at all.
