Default Nismo Catback

I've been reading alot lately about how catback exhausts in general have yielded the best results (+10whp dyno proven in most cases).

Is all this power from just the catback alone? I was looking at this product
http://www.leeparts.com/nissan_350z/...st_system.html

Is this the right exhaust system for a 2008 350z? Can I expect the same gains?

Thanks for answering this novice question.

don't expect any gains from ANY bolt on unless you have a bunch of them all working together...even then, you need a tune to be able to see a significant difference

The HKS true dual is better for FI applications right? I have been looking into it a fair bit lately and most seem to say the Nismo is a fantastic choice on a NA car and sounds great.

I had the nismo and test pipe combo and i was in love with the sound. It's a great choice and as for the HKS it can be used for FI applications but is also a very good NA exhaust. If you are looking into an FI specific exhaust, a tue dual 3inch exhaust would be the way to go.

I have a faint hiss with my Nismo and Berk HFC. It's very quiet, sometimes I cannot hear it even if I try to listen for it.

People tell me its normal with this setup.

i see.
yeah i just read on another thread that the nismo exhaust was designed for the stock cats + brace. with the aftermarket high flow, it tends to rattle? causing t he hiss. I'll have to try and find that thread again.

I really love the sound of the Nismo + HFC, but if it rattles or makes a hiss
it'll remind me of the ole srt-4...

You're over exagerating the hiss. Like I said, it's a faint hiss. Believe me, I am paranoid about my car, and if the hiss was annoying and loud I would have taken the exhaust off quickly.

Berk cats come with support brackets. See mine:

The nismo is a nice exhaust but is relatively mild in terms of power/sound. Honestly dont expect much out of it gain wise, but the sound is sweeter. Even the more high end exhausts like Amuse or HKS true duals wont make much power until you get rid of the biggest bottleneck, the OEM catalytics.

Seems the Nismo are all sound, no substance (from a performance standpoint)

Really? I have never really checked my tires except for the pressure. Everything on the car is straight from the factory, I never taken it in to the dealer and I have never taken it in to get an alignment job. Should I take it in to the dealer to get it inspected to make sure none of the bushings have deteriorated? BTW, car has about 12,000 miles on it.

yeah man, something is definitely up with your tires. The inside of the tire looks way worn down. Maybe you should have it checked just to make sure
