Default backfiring and not starting

I spent about an hour and a half trying to search but didnt find anything quite like my prob. my car started having trouble starting about 2 weeks ago. It would take several attempts to start, it did this 2 weeks ago once. one week later it did it again but it took even longer to start. this sunday i started it up early in the morning and it started right up. then it started iddlenig all weird between 1k and 2k with slight backfire. i drove it off slowly and everytime i gave it gas it would struggle to bring up the rpm's and backfire. it did it for about 2 min then it was fine. as i was getting close to home it did it again, it would barely move as i gave it gas and it would backfire like crazy. i didnt drive it till yesterday and it started right up, drove it about 15 miles then it started backfiring A LOT, it finally started dying slowly while backfiring. it stalled and i tried starting it again but it would only start for about 1 second and then backfire again and turn off. i did it about three times before i took off for about 2 hrs. when i came back i tried starting it again but now it doest turn on all its doing is turning but it doesnt turn on just like the very first time. i towed it home just need some help diagnosting the prob. anyone have a clue? im gonna start working on it 4th july. thank for your help.

check your intake for leaves or something of that nature. If your car isn't overheating then it's air related.
