Nismo headers finally installed
All can I say is...
The headers are amazing, the car feels like it can sure breathe a lot better. This coupled with the Nismo exhaust was a lot better than stock. The sound (with the hood open) was soooo freakin' loud. The pull from the start was so obvious, you can really feel the car's potential now.
Installation was no joke, they had a lift to work with so no radiator hoses removal. Took them close to six hours (three of the bolts took about 1.5 hours to take off).
After install, I opened the car up, first on side streets and then on the freeway (this being 9:15 PM) it was pretty open...going to 60 was much faster, this according to my personal butt dyno (to quote from a forum member). Haulin' *** to about 100 was just riddikulus...
All I can tell you guys, if you are not looking at Turbos in the next year or two, headers sure do make a difference.
Thanx again to jeff355 @ Performance Nissan for the headers.
And especially RB Motoring at City of Industry (Sean & Victor)...if you guys get a chance, visit!!! They had 2 (I think) R33s (one pulling close to 600HP) and an R34.
Will dyno hopefully after a second visit to RB Motoring for adjustments if needed.
No flames please, I'm no expert, I just love my "Arwen" (she got her wings last night).

don't think I can post sound clips...
But yes when the hood is open the sound is awesome, on cruising speed with the windows rolled down, you can definitely hear them, much more distinct than stock.

neo4mni.... Thanks for posting your initial impressions -- looks like the headers definitely make a difference..
hmmm -- This could be my next mod coupled with maybe ... a NISMO crankshaft...

so you are saying it sounds more exotic (like a ferrari)?
fairladyz in japan:
$50/hour @ RB Motoring - they quoted for 4 hours ($200) - it actually about 6 hours - paid for only 4 - great bunch of guys
VQ35DES:
No wouldn't say that, although I've never been up close to Ferrari.
It now has a nice raspy, throaty sound to it - it definitely complements the nice deep rumble of the Nismo exhaust.
b18bvudoo:
You now the sound the CAI makes at wot, I can barely hear it now. It's replaced by the headers sound. At cruising (60-70), the headers and exhaust really make beautiful music together.

jeff,
I would love too and you know that.
Most techs I've talked to don't want to touch the cams. Most if not all are worried about losing compression once you open up the engine.
Have you talked to anyone who's installed it and how much for installation?

We have a shop up the street that is willing to do it for $700.00. They have done quite a few quad cam maxima's but have not had anyone bring in a 350Z yet but get calls weekly. Guess nobody wants to be the guina pig.

Yes, to give you a straight answer. Loud, but definitely not coffee can.
I also like the headers. It made the car sound louder and more refined attuned to a formula car rather than a muscle car. The acceleration and power definately felt more solid. I think the headers were definately a good mod. Thanks for the business Jeff, you guys got them to me way quick!
