Default CAI question?

Whats up dudes. When it was storming here in jersey i drove my car into a 2 foot flood in the road and my motor just shut off. I put the stock air box back in and had it towed to my mechanic. He said the motor was fine, but my starter was done and he had the change all the fluids. I just got it back yesterday and everything is perfect and insurance covered it thank god. My question is that what should i do about the filter from the cold air intake? Do i need to replace it, clean it, or just let it dry out?? Also can i just use like a K&N cleaner from pep boys? Thanks

rinse it, re-oil it, reinstall and buy a by pass valve.

I never had a problem with rain. I was just stupid and thought i would make it and didnt think about my CAI. Luckily nothing internally happened and my starter just died. But im guessing one of the sensors picked up the water and shut off the motor. Should i use the K&N cleaning stuff from pep boys to re-oil it? And yes, i am going to buy the by-pass valve before i put anything back together.
