I wouldn't normally buy Ebay exhaust components if you were going to install them as is. However, I have seen some really good results from people who have welded gussets and supports on the tubes and got them coated.

The coating helps them not rust and retain heat while the supports add strength. My friend used some 3/8 OD 303SS barstock from the header flange to the outer most part of the tubing. Worked really good! This was on a turbo manifold though.

btw ... supersprint has long-tube-headers ... but until now ... nobody was able to tell me what is the difference between using long-tube-headers instead of "normal" headers ...

You know imo a good set of long tube headers if designed and manufactured well would prob have some decent hp gains. Couple that with a supercharger and supporting mods .

Crawford are quite long… I don’t know if they’d be considered “long tube” but they look longer than most (to me)… Doug himself calls them complex “spaghetti” design – the reason is that he kept all tubes equal length and all the bends due to length look like spaghetti… the Crawford headers are the most difficult to install… installation price is quite a bit more than just about all other headers.

you will lose a lot of low end torque with long tubes, and the horsepower gains will be BARELY greater than short tube headers (if anything.) Installing headers is a HUGE pain, and is usually not worth what you pay in the end, as discussed hundreds of times on this forum.

^^^ There have been reports of Crawford’s providing gains… cost/benefit?, that’s up to the owner to decide… headers with cams hasn’t been done enough to be conclusive, but is likely to show decent gain… again, cost vs benefit may not be advantageous for most.

Any more info? very interesting. I haven't seen any dyno results or more info about long tubes.

If you do have any links that i can learn about, i appreciate it.

the general idea with longtubes is that you'll create more low and mid range tq and still gain a noticeble amount of top end. perfect for a vortech s/c'ed car.

this is not true at all - it all is dependant on the header design, there are no universal laws when it comes to headers and where it will/won't make power

it has a lot to do with the placement of the collector, tube diameter and length. equally, of course.
