I was going to pick up a set of eBay long tubes then redo the welds. I'll wait to see what results you get with yours. What are you working on for the intake side?

way too premature to address either of those points. Right now I don't have a set time frame. It's something we have been working on for awhile, and it's on the table to do. That is all I can say for now

The welds are the least of the issues. The overall design is horrendous and you would be far better off with just about any of the short tube designs out there, or picking up a used set of Crawfords.

No comment on anything else guys, sorry - I've already said too much. When it's done, it's done

When I was N/A I had the XERD long tube headers and they were a very well made header with decent gains. I don't know if they are still around, but I do know they were a PITA to install and I even had access to a lift to do them.
Ran the XERDS to Injen exhaust and the rasp drove me nuts

hmmm... I'll re-phrase it... I am in the planning stages of my next project which is (was) going to include Crawford headers... would it behoove me to wait pending your project?....

so i was going to go with megan racing long tubes because they have a gaurantee to fit and a one year warranty against cracking, but they were 390 bucks plus shipping. so i went with ebay long tubes for 200 bucks. today i got a package that arrived at my house.... megan racing long tubes with certified warranty and reciept. haha. got the same thing for hundred less.

unfortunately, i wont be putting them in very soon as i have a built bottom end being put together at my friends ferrari race shop. so i wont able to do a before an after comparison. compared to a friends xerd headers, these are identical in quality and design.

well, at least you saved some$ Hopefully they stay together (unlike their test pipes, which are known to have tons of issues)

Erin, in all fairness its not like Nissan recreated the wheel when they produced the VQ. At the end of the day an engine is still an engine. Yes, there are differences among them but a capable engine builder is a capable engine builder.

Very true. A good engine builder is a good engine builder, but every engine has it's own nuances.

I was just laughing at his "Ferrari race shop" reference, like that gave some kind of stature or credibility... Seamed more like a "knucklehead teenager trying to impress his buddies" thing to say. Lol~ All in fun. :-)
