So a while back i posted on a high pitch screeching noise coming from my newly installed Nismo CAI, well I thought it was the pinched breather hose someone suggested but turns out it kept doing it, I decided I wanted to go with a pop charger anyway so I just installed that this morning and its STILL doing it, when I start up the car and rev it it sounds great, you can hear the sucking sound, but at different RPMS when I'm driving and giving it some gas its screeching, sounds terrible and is really pi**ing me off, someone please help

 

It may just be the sound of air rushing past the throttle body. Wierd sounds sometimes come from the throttle body plate when its in the partially open position.

Post a video of it so we can get a better idea of what it is.

 

its probably just air going into the intake. when you suck alot of air into the intake it makes a whisting sound between certain rpm's

 

I'll try and take a video, the thing is that I've watched a ton of videos of people with either Nismo CAI or pop chargers driving with it installed and I dont hear that noise on any of them, I took my neighbor for a spin, he's pretty knowledgeable in cars and he agreed that something just isnt sounding right, theres something off.

 

Can you hear the noise with your windows up or just down?

My Pop makes a noise similar to squeking brakes at certain RPM's but I got use to it after a couple months and don't notice it anymore.

Do you have a '03-'05 or 07+?

If you have a '07+ I suppose in theory yours might be twice as loud as mine.

yeah it sounds similar to squeaking brakes, you can hear it better with the windows down but you can hear it with it up. Its just not making any sense to me, I may run it by my mechanic and have him listen, oh and I have a 2003

 

You could try taking your whole intake off (at your own risk) and drive it down the street and back and see if it's even louder yet.

What I think you're hearing is normal. When I first installed it, I didn't like it because it was annoying. Took it off and put stock back on for oil consumption testing and missed the growl at redline, so I put it back on and never looked back.

 

chad - there in lies the problem, I dont hear any growl, all I hear is squeak

Sorry don't know what to tell ya, I'm all outa idears.

Only other thing I can think of is maybe you didn't re attach the 1/2 or whatever size it is hose to the new intake tube.

You'll figure it out.
