This is very common, working for several different car makes I see it a lot. Ford outsources to Borla a lot, Mopar has outsourced to several different companies, hell Ford's nav's and normal radio's are all made by pioneer accept a few. Same with Chrysler.

i thought the nismo edition Z exhaust was the exact same as the nismo S tune but with bigger tips to accomodate the rear bumper.

anyhow, speaking of brand names on our cars without realizing it, anyone else notice the stock Z exhaust is branded by Calsonic?

true...but having owned an S2000 and then put the mugen aftermarket on, and now a nismo and put the HKS hi-power on, i can say that the aftemarket exhausts are MUCH nicer. better looking, way better sounding, and probably more HP. that being said, now that i can say my stock nismo is HKS...i wasn't originally planning on selling, but....any offers? PM. PS i only have 5 days left before i leave, so if you want it, PM quick...only serious offers.....8000 miles on nismo exhaust, great shape. sorry to threadjack!

Does HKS sell a B-pipe only? IIRC the Nismo has a different exhaust only and the B-pipe is the same as the other models.

Brandon (Ihatebobbarker) got this for his Z, we'll see how it comes out once its installed. He just need something quieter/with a stock look to divert cops and running his aggressive rear bumper.

I like the Nismo Z exhaust, but as far as aftermarket options, not sure I'd choose it. It's somewhat interesting he chose this muffler and is looking to buy stock exhaust parts to go with it.

So who makes the Nismo S-tune exhaust....Nismo?

Yep. That's why it has Nismo written all over it.

Maybe the place you purchased from happened to put this exhaust in a random box that was lying around which incidentally was an HKS box. I doubt HKS makes Nissan products. If Nissan let HKS be their "performance branch," then wouldn't they call it HKS instead of Nismo?

Search for my posts and i have a sound clip of the stock nismo z muffler with test pipes (stock mide and y pipe). I had that exhaust, it does look pretty cool, but for performance, its pretty much the same as stock. The inlet to the muffler IS a tad bit larger than stock. I think its about a 2.75" inlet. I sold the muffler for $375, used that money to pick up an s-tune catback, then sold that to pick up an hks hi-power

Just like AEM makes NISMO CAI for NISMO.

I think I'm going to keep my NISMO setup and run bigger pips to it

Nismo doesn't make parts, they engineer the parts and shop them around to reputable manufacturers. They set price agreements and quality standards and let the particular manufacturers do the rest. This is one reason why all of Nismos parts are not only very well designed but built to the highest standard. If you compare just about any Nimso part, you won't find a better built item from anyone else.

It's one of the reasons Nismo parts aren't crazy expensive while still giving consumers the highest quality, they don't have to maintain factories, they just get nice discounts on factory downtime.
