I have a 05 350z roadster that I am thinking of putting on a K/n Air filter. I looked at the directions on line and it seems pretty straight forward. My big concern is--will I have a check engine light come on because I changed the air flow--Will I have any problems at all? Cost is $300 bucks so I want to make sure b4 I plunk down the $. And will I feel a difference i power?--they claim 10 hp on line. Thanks
300 for a filter? I doubt it, that must be for the intake. Either way, it will not trigger a CEL. You will notice a differance in sound, probably not much on the butt dyno if any. The gain will be there (dunno about 10hp), but its not that large.
Thanks for your responses--I was referring to the K and N with the cone and pipe--not a drop in filter. I priced it at Auto Zone and another place in town--both were around the same price. THanks

that would be the K&N intake. I wouldnt waste 300 on it. Throw in a drop in (literally wind up and throw it) and call it good. the stock intake design on the Z is very good, that was the first thing I noticed when I poped the hood at the dealer. It was verified by searching and reading on this site...thats a whole different concept.
White - can you produce any extra sound out of a drop in filter? I noticed the stock pipe was pretty good, but I love the sound of an intake suckin in some air...

yea it changes the engine sound a little, it doesnt "huff" like the typical tube style CAI when you step on the gas. I dont consider the little huff/puff a desireable or undesireable sound, just my observation.
I read that the K&N intake sucks pretty bad. There is one for sale here locally for like $75 and the guy cant get rid of it.. If your spending that much for sound get a stillen or mishimoto. Personally Im sticking with the stock box with Drop in K&N

If you like the intake buy it. 10 additional horsepower? Not sure about that.
