I was wondering when someone would get around to gutting their cats. This was a big deal on the MR2 forums.

Keep us posted as to results.

The results are so pleasing (performance/sound) that I cancelled my aftermarket exhaust order. Love the sound and also the butt dyno confirms all I would realistically hope for with exhaust mods. After digging all that crap out of there, it is clear wher the majority of the exhaust flow resistance is coming from. I can't see how adding some ID via aftermarket piping could yield much better flow dynamics while leaving the cat filling in place. 500 miles + of serious real world driving and not a CEL in sight.

Must be nice where you don't have a sniffer test.

As for us whom live in cities where we have a yearly checked... we're screwed.

Sniffer test?

In Arkansas there are no tests whatsoever. I don't even know if cat pipes are against the law here. You could probably run long headers blowing right out of a hole in the hood and it'd be cool.

Default gutting my cats

What entails the gutting of my cats ? just go in there and tear up anything in there ? And do you anticipate a cel in the future, or think that the ecu might be adjusting itself accordingly ?

thanks
