Well i am heading home this weekend and decided while i am there, i am going to get my Borla welded (to deal with those annoying leaks) and get the H pipe removed and add an X and or a muffler there. my question is, is it best to add an X like so...

or and actual muffler like this...

I dont know much about back pressure but i do know that some is needed when NA and i thought by adding a straight muffler like that i would lose BP
sorry kind of a newb at that lol
also what about this option (since is does incorporate a cross flow)...

Any help would be grateful, and if you guys have any sound clips of your modifies Borla's i would REALLY appreciate it. thanks in advance!
Also 2.5in piping is fine right, or should i go 2.25?

I would go with the Magnaflow X-Pipe muffler in 2.25" as I believe those who went with just the X-Pipe said the rasp was an order of magnitude WORSE.
I've added the above part to my Borla TD and have been very pleased with the results. My original reason for swapping out the H-Pipe was due to the rasp generated by my metallic HFCs but the car did seem to pick up a tiny bit of performance as well.
As far as the straight through muffler/resonator goes you will probably eliminate your rasp but you'll likely lose some low to mid-range torque as well (this is an educated guess, so if someone knows better please feel free to chime in).

I have the 11385(magnaflow x-pipe muffler) on my borla along with headers and testpipes for about a year now and have been very pleased. No rasp and a bit of added low mid range grunt is back that was lost when I first added the TP. Most people dont realize I have a full after market ehaust (header back) due to how how nice and tame it sounds.

How's the fitment of the Magnaflow muffler? Can the pipes on the TD just be cut and the Mag welded in without any mod?
And for you header gurus, what header would be the best setup with my TD/Mag combo? Thanks.

Yeah, just take it to a muffler shop and they can cut out the h-pipe and weld in the magaflow right on. Took my guy about 15-25 mins. I have topspeed and have been very please. Check out strup's headers.
