With the amount of $ you spent on your car, you probably could too.

ahhhh man i was pissed i know i just a bling adder nothing more nothing less .....but that´s what it´s suppose to be.of course it´s useless but aren´t all the mods you do to your car useless and a wast of money??

just came back from my first test drive i´m not quite sure if it´s just the feeling "i put another expensive part on my car" or if the Z really spools up a little bit better. ????
i always had the feeling that there was a lag between 3k-4k.....now it seems like it´s gone! ??? after the 1 h test drive i opend the hood to take a look on how "hot" the pipe really is....and damn it´s colder than the strut bar ....not sure how much °C the pipe had but i would say about 35°C , but i´ll meassure it the next time with my laser thermometers

i personally think that the "straight" design of the pipe is also a good advantage over the stock one with the "bellow" right after the MAF(could cause less turbulence?????).

Ummm, NA motors don't 'spool' or have 'lag'..... Stick a turbonator and interfooler on there, then we can talk~

u got 2 be kidding. In fact i know u r lol. But if the Intake is Ti i bet it is wayyy cooler then anything else on the market. On my GSXR1000 I have Full Ti Yoshi exhaust. Only time u cant put ur hand on any part of it is like near the header itself

I just looked up some material properties because I'm a dork. Here are some Thermal Conductivity ratings I found published on Engineer's Edge (website):

Titanium (99%) : 12.65 BTU / hr-ft-F
Aluminum : 136 BTU / hr-ft-F
Stainless Steel (304) : 8.1 BTU / hr-ft-F

Now I can't vouch for the accuracy of these numbers, but I can say that higher thermal conductivity equals more "heat soak". So based on these numbers a stainless steel pipe would be thermally ideal, followed by titanium, followed by aluminum.

I couldn't find any good data for plastic, because I don't know what type of plastic the OEM intake tube is, but I would bet it's thermal conductivity is far less than steel or titanium.

Is that just initial conductivity? I wonder what the retention qualities of each metal(and the plastic) are, under different ambient temperature conditions.

Hmm I'm not sure, but I would presume these are the values used for steady-state systems since there is a time unit (hours in this case) in the denominator.

I think it is kind of funny that folks are giving the OP a hard time just because he put a shiny part under his hood. So what it if doesn't improve performance? If he likes the way it makes his engine bay look then what is the problem?

I don't see the kids that slam their cars and stuff 20" wheels on their Zs get nearly as much grief even though those mods are a lot more expensive and really hurt performance.

I see your point, I should have been more clear. If and when the heat is removed or lessened, I wonder about retention duration.

I don't understand people talking about "wasting money" buying expensive parts for other peoples cars because it doesn't do anything or have that "bang for the buck", we Z owners all started wasting money when purchased our cars, we don't NEED to have 300 hp cars and our cars are not the best bang for the buck. don't try to give people a hard time because they are willing to spend more extra change on things for their cars.

LOL......its all in your head bro, all in your head. You're just trying to convince yourself that the pipe actually does do something. Not sure at what point do NA motors spool up past 3-4k. Please clarify that for us....

.....dunno, I know it's expensive..but I don't think it looks like it worth that much. I would just go for the HKS or ARC...,but if you like it then its good.

Don't care with other people say, dude.

Leave that intake box alone and get ARC exhaust next...that's going to help the lag and better spool on your NA Z???

maybe spool up was the wrong word...maybe "cleaner" is more correct...

Nah...
N/A, Lag, and Spool words are in the same catergory.
Individual Throttle Body (ITB) and Twin Turbo can be used together as well.

you spent $475 on a tube... why didn't you just buy a intake system with a hood sealed heat shield?
