Default Good cam info needed!!

Whats up everybody, here's the deal! I'm planing on making at least 450 to 550 hp with my 350Z. I'm not planing on making a straight drag car but actually just for my every day driver. I was told that with the VQ engine the heart of all the power comes from the CAMS you have so I'm looking for the best cams possible for what I plan on doing. My cars completely stock now and I plan on putting some headers and an exhaust on it first but after that I would put the cams in. Can anybody tell me for the hp I'm looking for, what would be the best choice of cams, what brand and if possible, where to find them. Thanks alot

For 500 horsepower, you should search on "Turbos"...

You won't be getting anywhere near 500 horsepower with just cams, or even full bolt-ons, headwork, and a tune.

I agree with __jb, search "turbos"

How do you figure that! Well of course with just cams I wouldn't get anywhere near 500 hp, but with head work and full bolt-ons it's very much possible!!!!! You think to small! LOL. All I'm searching for is some info on cams that would be able to handle that kind of HP.

any cam can handle that kind of power...the problem is you're not even asking the right questions, and as such, you're not really going to get the right answers. The right cam to run on a with 550 is not the same cam that one would just toss into their car with basic bolt ons.

you're a long, long, long way off from needing cams, deciding on cams, or even thinking about cams. Get the turbo in the car, with the right supporting mods, properly installed and skillfully tuned, and then worry about more power, because that's the only way any street driven Z is going to see anywhere remotely near that type of power level

Actually it's not possible... not 500 whp.

I'm generally optimistic about NA VQ engines, but there is not a prayer of reaching 500 whp without some sort of forced induction. It's not even close. That's why you're getting the sarcastic reply messages.

There are several good NA build threads on the forum. Read through a few...

I also know that jb. Of course with only bolt ons there's no way in h*** anyones going to get their VQ to reach 500 hp without some sort of forced induction. Ok let me re-phrase my question a bit...... When I purchase my turbonetics single turbo, what would be a good choice of cams to use with the kit.
