Default differences in headers?

ok so i know headers for the pre-hr z showed practically no performance gain and i know that hr motors do show gains with headers whats the dif. in the headers themselves would a header from a rev up bolt onto an hr motor or are the flanges the same? would u be able to get performance from lets say a long tube header built for a rev up by bolting it on your hr? i may be talking complete nonsense due to be overstuffed by turkey but that thought just popped into my mind...

I have yet to see any independant dyno testing showing the hr made gains from headers. The few that made gains had other bolt ons.

plus i would think the OEM improvements made to the HR heads alone would make for better gains in most headers.

i think the headers work for all 03-08 heads, but not for the 3.7 future mills.

difference in gains i would think come from the obvious primary length and diameter, the quality of the merge area, and the quality of the materials/coatings....and then qualit of tune.

longtube headers (only two I know of and only one in production) for the VQ should make more power throughout the rev band vs the shorty designs.

Get some headers made for your motor and put them on.

Headers should work on all 03-08 as long as you use the corresponding HFC/TPs i.e. HR vs DE. So DE headers with DE cats/tps or HR headers with HR cats/tps.

As far as headers on the HR go, I don't think theres going to be much notable gains from the headers that are available. Most of the headers focus on fitment, and the ability to bolt up to other OEM located parts. All the gains these headers make are mostly from basic flow increase, and not through length tuning. I still think a well designed tuned-length header can make decent gains on either motor.
