plenum spacer making 06z run lean need help please
My friend has a 06 rev up z. He has had the aam 5/16 spacer in his car for about 5 months and all a sudden the check engine light came on. He took it to the dealer and they diagnose it as running to lean. They even said the aam bolts were to short but I beg to differ! HE really doesnt want to pay for a tune so I was wondering is there anything else he can do other than that and taking it off?

It is unlikely a spacer is causing it to run lean unless there was a massive leak... and in that case the car would idle like krap or possibly not idle at all.
If he has a aftermarket intake it could be caused by the MAF getting dirty with filter oil.
If he has aftermarket cats or test pipes, it could be caused by an exhaust leak of some kind.

i highly doubt a few bolt ons would cause a car to run lean. The above comments are true. If there was an exhaust leak/intake leak it would be masked bye the same CIL code. Although, when there are large exhaust leaks you can tell when the car idles.
I would check the MAF for damage, more than likely one of the sensors is giving a false reading.
Also remember, most all shops see bolt-ons and automatically play "its the performance add on's fault" So take that into consideration when they tell you its the spacers doing it.
