Want to buy a cone filter...HELP
Ok, on my old car a 96 Saturn I had a bought a cone filter from auto zone which was $25 and when I put it on I just connected it to the hose part and removed the top box filter but the bottom piece stayed on I did not remove that.
Now the Z's have to intake boxes so if I buy 2 cones would it do anything if I left the bottom part of it without taking it out?

it would make your ***** larger. just be careful how long you leave it in the cone filter. and put it in the right direction or it will make you smaller.
your best bet is to remove your air filters completely. that frees up mega amounts of ***** size. I mean power. yes, horsepower.

Since the early 2000's manufacturers have been leaving very little on the table as far as intake systems go. They are very, very good straight out of the box.
From your question it sounds like you have an 07+, that OEM intake system is even better than the already hard to improve on 03-06.
My 2 cents, save your money and keep it stock.

No I dont drive the saturn anymore. I sold it a while ago but when I added that spectre cone filter and was breathing a whole lot better and the car was responding better.
I also have a 2007 Scion tC but don't really drive now that i got this. And I have a 2008. And also when i added the cone it improved my gas mileage so I was wondering if it was worth it since the cones were only $25 and I would buy any piping and just clamp it on to the stock one.

This used to work when OEM's designed crappy intakes, but not the case anymore. Same goes for header design. The headers on your HR motor are very good.
I would suggest doing some research on your car.
Cheap $25 air filters can collapse and/or not filter properly, which can cost you a new motor. Just hold a $25 filter up to the light and count how many holes you see.
If you are set on a quality intake system for the 07-08 350z, you'll need to spend $350-$500 to get something that fits & filters properly.
Many people have had less than stellar results with intake systems on the 350z (VQ and HR). Some theorize that it's due to Nissan's efficient stock intake design (making improvement more difficult), others tend to believe that it has to do with the ECU and MAF not liking extra airflow. Others are obsessed with heatsoak.
That being said, it's more difficult to increase HP with an intake system than it was 10 or 15 years ago.
If you're looking for improved gas mileage, any mod that makes the engine "breathe easier" should improve your mileage (as long as the ECU cooperates). This includes intake(s), plenum spacer (for VQ), headers, high flow cats, y-pipe, and exhaust.
However, your results may vary.
Good luck.
