Sport Z Exhaust Shootout: Stillen vs. NISMO vs Injen vs. Borla vs. 5Zigen
We’ve recorded all five exhausts in different situations, including the stock 350Z exhaust: at idle, revving, on the dyno (from inside the car), and a drive-by under hard, tire-chirping acceleration. Video is also available for four of the exhausts. *Download* them all now: www.sportzmagazine.com
The official results--with full dyno charts--will be published in the upcoming issue of Sport Z (Fall 2003). You’ll see which exhaust pulled the most horsepower, which one cranked the most torque, and (uh-oh) which one actually lost horsepower. We measured everything: MSRP, weight, diameter (tip and piping), decibel sound level at idle and at 3,000 rpm (normal cruising), warranty, ease of install, and more.
To get this issue with your paid subscription (and read about our other 350Z stories including the supercharged SMZ, the new Roadster, and more), be sure to order by Monday August 25th. Order on the web at www.sportzmagazine.com or by calling circulation at 505-771-2374. And remember, we are NOT available on newsstands.

Dave,
You make it sound like it is now too late to get the issue with the exhaust shootout (Fall 03?), but your web site shows that Aug 26 subscriptions and later will start with the Fall 03 issue!?
Please clarify.
Thx,
Frank

Anyone know what exhaust that is on the link that says "click here" and " 350Z Exhaust Shootout!"
Looks like a newer version of the Injen w/ tips that point straight back. It's not one of the exhausts that was tested.

Frank,
I think I can answer the question for Dave. The Issue with the dynoshootout is already printed. In order to get the Fall issue in time with current subsribers you need to get in before the deadline.
Meaning you get your issue at the same time as all the order people. After the deadline it might take a bit longer to get your issue since they print out all the labels (addresses) at once. Just makes it easier on both sides that all.
99AllTurbo,
You are correct the picture is the newer version of the INJEN, The only thing I believe visually that will be different is the Tip of the new INJEN exhaust. They are working on that now and should have that for release fairly soon. It was not tested but I don't see why the dyno results would be really any different.

August 26, 2003 --- sub starts with the Winter 2003 issue.
The mag is going to press as we speak and the circulation database is closed. The Fall 2003 issue just became a back issue.
Sorry for the oops, our webmaster was just advised and it appears she may have left the office for the day.
Thanks,
Bob
