amuse exhaust help!!!
hey guys,
i found a used amuse exhaust (titanium) but is not the whole piece, is only the rear section of the muffler. so, i was askin whether the middle section pipe can be custom made to fit with the rear part of muffler? and does the middle pipe have to be stainless steel or titanium to fit with the the muffler?

The mid-pipe certainly can be made of stainless. It will bolt up to the rear section very easily. Just find a good exhaust fabrication shop to make it for you and dont trust any slop shop to fab it up.
And don't let them weld up the stainless part while its bolted to the Titanium portion.
You don't want excessive thermal gradients damaging/warping the Ti.
Fit all the mid-pipe parts together.
Tack weld them in place.
Remove the mid-pipe from the car to finish up the welding and then re-install it.
And don't let them weld up the stainless part while its bolted to the Titanium portion.

There won't be any adverse affect on sound because Ti is bolted to stainless. That's not a problem.
But some shops will weld up the parts while its in the car. This is easier and faster, but you don't want to do that when Ti is involved.
For example the steel flange is being welded to the steel tubing while the flange is bolted to the Ti flange of the Amuse. If you are doing a continuous weld on the steel flange, it will get Very hot... and have a large thermal gradient relative to the Ti flange. It will also soak a lot of heat into the Ti flange.
Not a good situation.

After it cools down you can bolt it back onto the Ti.
